Should we BackLink to Guest Post ?

Hi, I have been actively doing guest blogging for last few weeks . But the page authority , moz Rank and moz Trust of my guest posts appear 0 as those posts have their own pages on blogs with snippets of posts on home page. I wanted to ask if i should backlink to my guest posts to increase the authority, mR and mT of pages. Those posts are already appearing as backlinks in webmaster tools but if i backlink to my posts to increase mR and mT, then will it also increase the juice passed by backlinks in those posts to landing pages on my site ? Thanks,

Great point Ann. Obviously a lot depends on the motive when it comes to link building and in the real world you can't just measure your return on investment by the number of links... I suspect that building connections between your own guest posts also increases the chances that people will want to find out more about what you have to say than if they just read one post somewhere. Pitty you can't see the path people have travelled to arrive on your site beyond the immediate referrer.

While I do agree with what Casey says, I do cross-link my guest posts around the web in a most natural way. My guest articles are all in the same niche, so they are somehow cross-related, so what I do is to mention my guest articles now and then. That effort has been noticed by the way: Guest blogging on Bloggingpro she links to another post she wrote on cleverdude.com. I’m sure she’ll get invited back. Not that I'd turn that into strategy but why not if those links make perfect sense and build better relations with bloggers I guest post for?

My recommendation would be to spend the time building more backlinks to your site, not someone else's. Why only earn a small share of the link value when you could get the lot? You'll get better return on the time you invest link-building. I'm my experience it's best to just move on and build the next link than worry about the one you've already got. Do your research first, check the domain authority and the page authority of articles that are currently in the same place on the site that you expect your article to be posted. (That way you can estimate the likely page authority). Another thing to consider when guest-posting is direct traffic. Check the number of subscribes blogs have and see if you can get guest-posts on those. Look at the content that works on their blogs (the ones with the most tweets/comments) and the kind of headlines that seem to work. You can often see patterns! Hope this helps!

Hi, Most of the blogs where i got chance to do guest postings have Domain authority in Forties and some in thirtees. Yes, you are right that SEOmoz will take some time to index those pages but should i also do some backlinking to those pages to increase their juice? Does the passed link juice keep on increasing for a page which is already shown as backlink in webmaster tools if backlinks to that page also keep on increasing with passage of time. Thanks,

If these are relatively new pages, then they may not yet be included in the linkscape index, SEOmoz won't have calculated these stats for the page. What's the Domain Authority?

To me, the point in reaching out for guest posting opportunities, is to find very popular websites who are authorities. You should do the research beforehand. Basically, any post that gets published on these sites people will build links to it naturally because of the site and hopefully because you put a ton of effort in creating a kick ass post on someone else's website. Try to go after larger sites for guest posting opportunities, use the current guest posts you have done as examples to show new sites.

		Backlinks through dofollow commenting
I'm interested in building backlinks to my photography business site by leaving good, engaging comments on other photographers' DoFollow blogs. Is this a good idea? Is it worth the effort? Through a little research, I've managed to locate more than 40 dofollow photographer blogs that have a domain authority of 35+. The idea is to take an hour or so a week to leave 10-20 comments on their blog posts. Would you consider this a good strategy? I rank on the first and second page of most of my keywords that I'm working on, but I want to rank 1st or 2nd on them. I used the keyword finder tool on google adwords to find the keywords that are the most searched for in my area. Surprisingly the competition is not large, so I'm fairly comfident I can get there. I've already optimized my site substantially and I'm looking into link building. Thoughts? Link Building | | studio35design0

		Press Release Sites for Backlinks
OK, I read a previous thread about whether people found press release sites useful (specifically I am considering a reputable pay for release service). I understand the knock on press releases in this digital age (namely that no one reads them and arguably never did . . . ), but I was interested in moving the discussion in a different direction . . . Do press releases services really help a sites performance based on increased backlinking? Is there a SEO benefit to PR services? My company is a local print company. I've done quite a bit of research on my local competitors, and specifically for a couple products we would like to dominate. The good news is that it looks like the hurdle would not be terribly high to really take over the web presence with a well planned and executed website/SEO campaign. My inclination is that for a relatively small company like mine (dealing with relatively small competitors) it WOULD benefit me to pay for the sheer number of backlinks a PR program would generate. The monthly cost is frankly about the same as the cost of this site, which OF COURSE I get value from (hey moderator, how about a couple extra MOZ points for that one!) Specifically, I am looking at this for myself, but feel free to expand the question to the broader topic. Link Building | | damon12121
