          Hi,

I've a relative good ranking for a specific keyword in google.com (english queries (hl=en)), but searching for the same keyword in google.com.br (Brazilian Portuguese (hl=pt-BR)), my rank for that keyword is far worst.

          The question is:

I need to do something specific to rank in google.com.br (hl=pt-BR)? I'm doing the regular link building. Creating some blogs, blogging for 10 days before droping my links, and creating link wheels the same way. The blogs I create to make links are written in Brazilian Portuguese, also, the blog that I'm trying to rank higher, is also written in Brazilian Portuguese.

Sorry for the english, it's not my native language.

          Thanks

I check the Webmasters Tools and everything is correct. The geo targeting is for Brazil.

            Thank you.

BBB is Better Business Bureau, an independent agency that verifies and accredits businesses - verifies address, etc. Their review process is pretty extensive (official visit from BBB staff in many major cities) and I believe a link from that site should be quality one, giving your site/biz location signals to Google

No problem happy to help, but do you have Google webmaster tools, check out the GEO targeting on that too. If you use a .br domain it should automatically select it to Brazil.

But yes try and target local content and local links, if you build all your link profile in .co.uk you can run into some problems.

Good luck with the site 😃

Well, I'll try to get more links from Brazil. The majority of my links is from wordpress.com, blog.com, etc. None of them are from Brazil.

                      Thank you.

                          A few important things:

                          1. Make sure you have the TLD for that country.

                          2. Make sure you have local content in that laungage for the country.

                          3. Make sure in webmaster tools you target that country.

                          4. Make you have links from that country, i.e geo specific.

From my experience hosting will not be a huge rank factor for GEO targeting, I have many websites hosting in the US yet they rank well in GEO areas, yet if it is an ecommerce site I would advise for local hosting.

The first 2 points are ok. My site is hosted by a Brazilian hosting service and has a Brazilian IP. Also, my domain has the brazilian TLD.

The problem with the last point is that is hard to find web 2.0 services, with high authority/pagerank, they are usually crap.

Can you tell me what is BBB?

                            Thank you.

                              Hello there,

It seems like you already have the basic idea on ranking in another country, like changing the language and getting links from websites with the relevant country location and suffix (e.g. .uk .fr). This will obviously be a great starting point. Some other things I would consider are:

                              -website contact address, number,  etc.

                              -host location, IP address.

Here are some suggestions to rank specifically in one country

The first 2 points could be important or not depending on case by case basis (depending on competition, branding strategy, etc)

                                • Try getting the site hosted on that country's IP/ server
                                • Try using that country TLD
                                • Definitely get lot of national/local signals - country directory links, links from same country hosted sites, BBB or similar accreditation listing in that country,  etc

Advise on the right way to block country specific users but not block Googlebot - and not be seen to be cloaking. Help please!

                                  international seo crawling

Hi, I am working on the SEO of an online gaming platform - a platform that can only be accessed by people in certain countries, where the games and content are legally allowed.
Example: The games are not allowed in the USA, but they are allowed in Canada. Present Situation:
Presently when a user from the USA visits the site they get directed to a restricted location page with the following message: RESTRICTED LOCATION
Due to licensing restrictions, we can't currently offer our services in your location. We're working hard to expand our reach, so stay tuned for updates! Because USA visitors are blocked Google which primarily (but not always) crawls from the USA is also blocked, so the company webpages are not being crawled and indexed. Objective / What we want to achieve: The website will have multiple region and language locations. Some of these will exist as standalone websites and others will exist as folders on the domain. Examples below:
                                  domain.com/en-ca [English Canada]
                                  domain.com/fr-ca [french Canada]
                                  domain.com/es-mx [spanish mexico]
                                  domain.com/pt-br [portugese brazil]
domain.co.in/hi [hindi India] If a user from USA or another restricted location tries to access our site they should not have access but should get a restricted access message.
However we still want google to be able to access, crawl and index our pages. Can i suggest how do we do this without getting done for cloaking etc? Would this approach be ok? (please see below) We continue to work as the present situation is presently doing, showing visitors from the USA a restricted message.
However rather than redirecting these visitors to a restricted location page, we just black out the page and show them a floating message as if it were a model window.
While Googlebot would be allowed to visit and crawl the website. I have also read that it would be good to put paywall schema on each webpage to let Google know that we are not cloaking and its a restricted paid page. All public pages are accessible but only if the visitor is from a location that is not restricted Any feedback and direction that can be given would be greatly appreciated as i am new to this angle of SEO. Sincere thanks,

Which Google does a .ie website get shown in?

Hi all, I am working on a .ie website and I was under the understanding that if you have a regional domain, like .ie you will limited to being shown in a search engine like google.ie When I go to International Targeting in Google SEarch Console it says the site is associated with: Ireland Am I limiting my ability to rank well in worldwide Google searches with this domain and if so, how can I counter this? Many thanks.

Country and Language Specific URL Paths

Wanted to ask everyone a questions: So our company is going to be doing a website that is going to be full of videos. The url path will be country.domain.com/language/slug/content-id. We redirect the user when they go to the different country. So if you're in spain on a train to france your URL will change from es.domain.com/es/slug/content-id to fr.domain.com/es/slug/content-id. Each country can listen to each video in all languages. My question is with hreflang tags and canonicals. Aside from targeting users in a certain country via Google Search Console, how do I eliminate duplication and tell Google which I'd like to show up via which country. In spain I would like es.domain.com/es/slug/content-id to show in Google and would have hreflang tags on each of the es.domain pages but what about fr.domain.com/es/slug/content-id since it would show the same content? I can't canonical to one of them since I need them to show in their respective country. How do I show the difference in language and country without showing duplication?

Problems with the google cache version of different domains.

We have problems with the google cache version of different domains.
For the “.nl” domain we have an “.be” cache..
Enter “cache:www.dmlights.nl” in your browser to see this result. Following points are already adapted: Sitemap contains hreflang tag Sitemap is moved to the location www.dmlights.nl/sitemap.xml We checked the DNS configuration Changed the Content language in de response header to : Content-Language: nl-NL Removed the cache with webmastertools Resolved serverrequest errors. Can anyone provide a solution to fix this problem? Thanks, Pieter

                                  E-Commerce - Country Domains versus 1 Domain?

Hi, Just wanted to get some feedback and opinions re the idea of segmenting our ecommerce site languages under various domains, like .jp for japanese, .it for italian etc... I do understand the geolocation benefits that this could bring us, but on the flipside, it would mean that we would need to grow our domain authority, link buiding per country domain, which is quite a bit of work. Has anyone ever considered or implemented this and any thoughts? Thanks!

If I redirect based on IP will Google still crawl my international sites if I implement Hreflang

We are setting up several international sites. Ideally, we wouldn't set up any redirects, but if we have to (for merchandising reasons etc) I'd like to assess what the next best option would be. A secondary option could be that we implement the redirects based on IP. However, Google then wouldn't be able to access the content for all the international sites (we're setting up 6 in total) and would only index the .com site. I'm wondering whether the Hreflang annotations would still allow Google to find the International sites? If not, that's a lot of content we are not fully benefiting from. Another option could be that we treat the Googlebot user agent differently, but this would probably be considered as cloaking by the G-Man. If there are any other options, please let me know.

Subdomains or subfolders for language specific sites?

We're launching an .org.hk site with English and Traditional Chinese variants. As the local population speaks both languages we would prefer not to have separate domains and are deciding between subdomains and subfolders. We're aware of the reasons behind generally preferring folders, but many people, including a-moz.groupbuyseo.org, suggest preferring subfolders to subdomains with the notable exception of language-specific sites. Does this mean subdomains should be preferred for language specific sites, or just that they are okay? I can't find any rationale to this other than administrative simplification (e.g. easier to set up different analytics / hosting), which in our case is not an issue. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Targeting Different Countries... One Site or Separate?

I have a client who has 3 ecommerce sites. They are somewhat differentiated but for the most part sell the same stuff. Luckily 2 of them are quite authoritative, old and rank reasonably well. Most of the visitors and sales come from the US. He wants to start targeting Europe, Mexico and Canada. What are your suggestions for doing this? Are we better targeting on the main domains? Not really sure how to do that? Should we use a subdomain and a new store front for each geo? Should we use a .co.uk .co.mx and .co.ca each with a unique storefront? It looks like we are moving to a Magento platform so setting up multiple storefronts on a single database is not a big issue. Anyone have any experience with this?
