Does anyone know of any negative consequences of changing Facebook username ?
For example i take it all your fans are transferred/you dont lose them
? Its just a url change (so links on website etc need to be updated) but thats the only thing that changes ?Many Thanks

Can anyone confirm for sure re the fans (as in no risk of losing them or any other serious negatives) form changing the username/url ?

Yes I believe they do - I've changed a name once and it changed nothing except the name. Â I do recall the 'you can only do this once so get it right' warning.

How do I change my Page name?
You can only change the name of a Page with fewer than 200 likes. If your Page qualifies, follow these steps to change its name:
- From the top of your Page, click Edit PageÂ
- Select Update Info
- Change the text in the Name field and save your edits
You can't currently change the name of a Page with 200 or more likes.
Changing your Page's name does not affect its username or Page address. Learn more about changing your Page's username.

Google SERP shows wrong (and inappropriate) thumbnail for Facebook videos?
Hello I'm running into a strange issue with at least one of my client's video. The video is posted on Facebook. When searching for the video on Google, the SERP shows a completely wrong, and inappropriate, thumbnail image. (And in one case the preview video starts playing within Google SERP.) It also seems that Google is indexing various countries' facebook page for the same video separately (it-it.facebook.com, fr-fr.facebook.com, etc). Note that only the thumbnail and preview video within Google are wrong; if you click on the link, you see the correct video and page. I hesitate to divulge the actual client video, but there are some reports on Google's search community about the same behavior: Here's one that stargs back in March:Â https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/33760205?hl=en and a more recent one:Â https://support.google.com/websearch/thread/71452151?hl=en It looks increasingly like a bug in some google algorithm, but nobody at google seems to acknowledge that. I've unpublished the original video from FB and submitted an 'outdated content' removal to Google, which is pending. In the meantime, my questions for our group of experts here: Has anyone else experienced this and any other suggestionso n how to fix? If we assume that this is not a google bug: how could a malicious actor or black-hat SEO influence Google's algorithms to cause this? Thanks, mickey

Is there a Bug or other problem with Facebook Page 'invite friends' feature ?
Hi Im trying to use the invite friends feature on Facebook pages to send a page invite to some email contacts, as per #3 in this SME recent post of FB tips:Â http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/five-lesser-known-facebook-page-features-for-marketers However whenever i click the 'invite friends' option the dialogue box swirls for a bit then disapears and nothing whatsoever happens, not just not being able to see invite email options but nothing at all happens, the loading box just disapears. Does anyone know if this is a current know issue bug or other way of doing this so it works ? (I have tried on 3 different pages) Many Thanks Dan

Q: Does a link in a facebook post count as a backlink? Q: is it a 'do follow' or 'no follow' link? Q: twitter uses short links, so when someone links to me, do i get the points/juice from the backlink?

Facebook Outreach Tips - what to say
Hi, I've been shown how to do facebook outreach in my home town. I am a weight loss hypnotist. I was shown how to do outreach to possible home town clients using the facebook search feature. I go to the search and type in "Friends who like weight loss" And I get a couple of friends who have liked a major weight loss site After I've done that search, I look to the right in facebook. It has a bunch of dropdowns. I choose the same search parameters except I change it to "Live in Boise" (my town) and "Not my Friend". I get dozens of facebook users who live in Boise and are not my friends and are interested in weight loss. I can message these people (less than 30 a day) Here's the problem: I don't want to spam them. How do I get these people interested in my weight loss hypnosis program (I could really help them) by sparking up a conversation and not spamming. Everything I can think of saying seems manipulative. I don't know how to start a conversation and invite people to come in for a free sample session. My free sample session is 30 minutes and is free just to see if the client and I are a good fit. What do you do when your Facebook page is Unpublished?
The page in question has been there for about 5 years and has about 80 followers. It is for a business that sells steel plate (B2B) and everything is totally compliant with Facebook T&C as far as I can tell. It's been unpublished with the statement "Your Page has been unpublished and it cannot be published again." We did an appeal about 6 weeks ago and heard absolutely nothing.... Generally we got no likes, no comments and reached about 20 people with each post. So I am lost as to why we were banned and lost as to what we do next It's fine if they want to unpublish - it's their site - what's frustrating is the arbitrariness, the lack of information as to why it was banned and lack of communication. Videos perform poorly on facebook...why?
I have a facebook page with 42,000 Real fans. Images, screenshots, links, questions, etc all perform well. But videos get 0 interaction. If I get 5 likes that is saying something. Why would facebook not send out my videos to people? Is there a way to increase them? It is very frustrating to post our youtube videos to get no response. My fans are most 13-30 yr old gamers, so videos should be right up their alley.

Facebook Like Button vs Like Box
We want to add the Facebook Like and Google Plus One functionality to our website but had a question. Is it better for SEO and usability to use a global Facebook Like Button for people to Like the home page of our website or a Facebook Like Box to Like our Facebook page from our website? I know that we can specify the URL in the Like Button but I wanted to get some feedback. Thanks!

Blog posts copied to Facebook or Linked? Any Duplicate Content Issues?
I wasnt able to find any good answers on this. Â I have two separate ecommerce websites, one with a top level blog. Â (www.xyz.com/blog) and different website with a subdomain blog (blog.xyz.com)***note on the subdomain blog, although it links to our website. Â You cannot directly shop from it. Â Until i can make some sort of scraper, its what I have to work with. For quite some time now I have been copying the blog posts and re-creating them on facebook as a Note. Â Using the same anchor text/links on facebook as my blog post. Part of the issue is that I want the facebook pages to have some content and not just links. Â Both get 2-3 updates per week, 1 of those being a blog re-post. Does anyone know if google or bing considers this duplicate content? Â Should I simply link directly to the blog everytime, as a best practice? Any insight on this would be great. Â Thanks!
