Hi Dario, no-indexing the author archive is probably the most commonly used method to prevent duplicate content issues from harming single author blogs in terms of search. However, it is not the only method, and is not the best one in terms of usability.  Other options include redirecting the author archive page to the blog home page, using canonical tags, or disabling the author archive altogether. In terms of usability, I prefer the last option. Why create an author archive at all for a single person blog?

I know that it sounds weird to no-index the author page. In some ways i agree with that.
But it's very normal to no-index archive pages because that is obvious duplicate content.

An author page is nothing more than an archive page filtered to just one author.

I hope this makes you see my solution in a different way. I still think that no-indexing is the best way you thing you can do.

                Thats correct

domain.com/blog  content is the same as domain.com/author/name

domain.com/blog page rank 1 (more authority)

domain.com/author/name page rank 2 (less authority) no links from the site

its not the only option, i would like more options, like create a new author and intercalate post, or other suggestions as just do not index page

What i gather from your question is that if you say you are the author of a piece of content. Your CMS will create to pages. One for the category where your blog post resides and one on the author page.

If this is what you mean then you should make sure the search engines don't index your author page. You can do that by placing the following piece of code in the HTML head section of your website: <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"  =""></meta name="robots">

In order to be associated as the author to the search engines you should use the rel=author in your hyperlink.
                  For example: rel="author">My domain

                  Did this answer your question?

Do links from subdomains pass the authority and link juice of main domain ?

Hi, There is a subdomain with a root domain's DA  90. I can earn a backlink from that subdomain. This subdomain is fresh with no traffic yet. Do I get the ranking boost and authority from the subdomain? Example: I can earn a do-follow link from **https://what-is-crm.netlify.app/ **but not from https://netlify.app

                    Preventing CNAME Site Duplications

Hello fellow mozzers! Let me see if I can explain this properly. First, our server admin is out of contact at the moment,
so we are having to take this project on somewhat blind. (forgive the ignorance of terms). We have a client that needs a cname record setup, as they need a sales.DOMAIN.com to go to a different
provider of data. They have a "store" platform that is hosted elsewhere and they require a cname to be
sent to a custom subdomain they set up on their end. My question is, how do we prevent the cname from being indexed along with the main domain? If we
process a redirect for the subdomain, then the site will not be able to go out and grab the other providers
info and display it. Currently, if you type in the sales.DOMAIN.com it shows the main site's homepage.
That cannot be allow to take place as we all know, having more than one domain with
exact same content = very bad for seo. I'd rather not rely on Google to figure it out. Should we just have the cname host (where its pointing at) add a robots rule and have it set to not index
the cname? The store does not need to be indexed, as the items are changed almost daily. Lastly, is an A record required for this type of situation in any way? Forgive my ignorance of subdomains, cname records and related terms. Our server admin being
unavailable is not helping this project move along any. Any advice on the best way to handle
                    this would be very helpful!

                    Indexing content behind a login

Hi, I manage a website within the pharmaceutical industry where only healthcare professionals are allowed to access the content. For this reason most of the content is behind a login. My challenge is that we have a massive amount of interesting and unique content available on the site and I want the healthcare professionals to find this via Google! At the moment if a user tries to access this content they are prompted to register / login. My question is that if I look for the Google Bot user agent and allow this to access and index the content will this be classed as cloaking? I'm assuming that it will. If so, how can I get around this? We have a number of open landing pages but we're limited to what indexable content we can have on these pages! I look forward to all of your suggestions as I'm struggling for ideas now! Thanks Steve

Noindexing Thin Content Pages: Good or Bad?

If you have massive pages with super thin content (such as pagination pages) and you noindex them, once they are removed from googles index (and if these pages aren't viewable to the user and/or don't get any traffic) is it smart to completely remove them (404?) or is there any valid reason that they should be kept? If you noindex them, should you keep all URLs in the sitemap so that google will recrawl and notice the noindex tag? If you noindex them, and then remove the sitemap, can Google still recrawl and recognize the noindex tag on their own?

Hiding content or links in responsive design

Hi, I found a lot of information about responsive design and SEO, mostly theories no real experiment and I'd like to find a clear answer if someone tested that. Google says:
Sites that use responsive web design, i.e. sites that serve all devices on the same set of URLs, with each URL serving the same HTML to all devices and using just CSS to change how the page is rendered on the device
https://developers.google.com/webmasters/smartphone-sites/details For usability reasons sometimes you need to hide content or links completely (not accessible at all by the visitor) on your page for small resolutions (mobile) using CSS ("visibility:hidden" or "display:none") Is this counted as hidden content and could penalize your site or not? What do you guys do when you create responsive design websites? Thanks! GaB

Will Google Penalize Content put in a Div with a Scrollbar?

I noticed Moosejaw was adding quite a bit of content to the bottom of category pages via a div tag that makes use of a scroll bar. Could a site be penalized by Google for this technique? Example: http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/search_Patagonia-Clothing____
