          Hi,

I am new for MOZ, have no idea how to improve my website with the function of MOZ, can anyone share their experience for using MOZ service. the more detail the better!

          Thanks a lot in advance!

          John

Thanks for helps for everyone, it took me some time to read each answer, and also spend few days to study MOZ. My initial conclusion is the function of MOZ is to promote the idea of SEO, but not provide any specific SEO service for specific website except for some tools and report. So I am missing or misunderstanding MOZ's service, it will be always welcome to help me out by correcting my opinion. Anyway, thanks again for all the time you've given to me, and good to you all!

          -John.

            Robert,

Thank you so much for the kind words about Q&A. Christy Correll and I are the two people who are the most involved with Q&A on a day-to-day basis, and it's awesome to know that the conversations here are what led you to sign up!

I actually joined MOZ purely because I was following the QA reading the new topics each night for a few weeks. That was what convinced me to join. I have come across so many problems with MOZ and honestly still do not have any idea what I am really doing but I can post in QA which is good.

The on-Page grader is my favourite tool for a beginner like myself. But I am hoping in time they fix the issues I have found and I am sure there will be plenty more out there worth me taking up the $99 a month. (Fingers Crossed)

                Hi John,

Welcome to Moz. We are glad you are here! You asked a great question, and have already received some solid advice. See how friendly folks are around here? 🙂 A similar question was asked last week at http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/community/q/make-the-most-of-moz. You may want to take a peek at it, as Peter Lunn and Cyrus Shepard linked to some excellent resources there.

                Cheers,
                Christy

it sounds like you're in the same boat I was 6 months ago, so I can tell you, you are already using the most important tool Moz has to offer: this q/a forum. Granted, you should definitely take advantage of the 101 videos and tutorials, but it's amazing the quality of info top level people in this industry will give you, just because you asked.

                  Good luck!

                  Ruben

Moz is great because it provides metrics and information about your site.  SEO is still an art and a science.  The tools that Moz has won't rank your site.  They will help provide invaluable information about your site.  You'll still have to choose the best path for your marketing strategy.  For example, if Moz tells you that you have 25 pages of duplicate content, it doesn't do anything for you unless you know how to act on that information.  If you haven't done so already, I highly recommend reading over Moz's beginner guide to SEO. I'm not saying you should learn SEO (you probably already know alot) but the guide has information in it that may help you think about how to use the tools that Moz offers.  (http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/beginners-guide-to-seo)

I run a few campaigns in Moz and each of them are set up completely different. Here is a help guide for each of the tools here on Moz and how they can be used to extract data.  http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/help/guides/research-tools.  If you look at the left sidebar, you'll see links to the specific tools.  On each of those tabs there are videos, a how-to section and FAQs.  By going through each tool and seeing what each does, you'll be able to see how to effectively use the tools to generate the type of data you need to develop an awesome web strategy.

On-page SEO checking tool  was a big draw for me to moz, i would go through your websites landing pages with the moz on-page grader tool

                      http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/researchtools/on-page-grader

Actually most of the tools you get full access to are pretty sweet, Opensite explorer for your own link profile and looking at competitors i also find very useful.

Sub-domain with spammy content and links: Any impact on main website rankings?

Hi all, One of our sub-domains is forums. Our users will be discussing about our product and many related things. But some of the users in forum are adding a lot of spammy content everyday. I just wonder whether this scenario is ruining our ranking efforts of main website? A sub domain with spammy content really kills the ranking of main website? Thanks

If my article is reposted on another blog, using re=canonical, does that count as a link back?

Hey all! My company blog is interested in letting another blog repost our article. We would ask them to use "re-canonical" in the mark-up to avoid Google digging through "duplicate" info out there. I was wondering, if the other site does use the "re=canonical", will that appear as a backlink or no? I understand that metrics will flow back to my original URL and not the canonical one, but I am wondering if the repost will additionally show as a backlink. Thanks!

When Is It Okay To Use Bold, Underline & Italic Text? Should I Stay Away From My Keywords?

Hey guys I have a few questions. I am pretty sure that I was penalized by Panda a few years back because I went very heavy on bold, italic and underlining my keywords.  Since then I removed the bold, italic and underlines and never have used them again.  I was just reading an article on the Moz Blog and I saw some bold words. My questions are,  When Is It Okay To Use Bold, Underline & Italic Text? Should I Stay Away From My Keywords? Any help would be great! Thank you.

Can I use schema markup for my Trustpilot results?

Hi we have excellent Trustpilot reviews & want to know if we can include these in schema markup in order for the results to show in SERPs? The Trustpilot results show in PPC but not SERPs. A competitor looks to have no Trustpilot or other independent reviews but is showing 5 stars in SERPs, i also cant find any customer reviews on their site, it looks to be just coding that is driving the SERPs view? Their site is goldencharter.co.uk Any thoughts much appreciated Thanks Ash

Has anyone used Capterra and will I get penalized for paid links?

Hello - I'm contemplating buying a directory listing on the software promotion website http://www.capterra.com/ . It's a site that gets quite a bit of traffic for people searching for software products and  I was interested in promoting my software product there, but I don't want to ruin our very good standing with Google at this time if Google deems Capterra as selling paid links. I'm not interested in this for links but instead as a good source of referral traffic for my software site. If anyone has used Capterra or has advice on whether Capterra might injure my SERP rankings, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jeff

Does omitted results shown by Google always mean that website has duplicate content?

Google search results for a particular query was appearing in top 10 results but now the page appears but  only after clicking on the " omitted results by google." My website lists different businesses in a particular locality and sometimes results for different localities are same because we show results from nearby area if number of businesses in that locality (search by users) are less then 15. Will this be considered as "duplicate content"? If yes then what steps can be taken to resolve this issue?

Can I have the same item description on Amazon, eBay and my website?

Hi guys, After looking on the Internet and reading the Learn SEO section on this site, I've realised that Google doesn't like duplicate content and penalises it, whether that's duplication on your own site or of another site's content. We are an online retailer currently selling on different platforms including Amazon, eBay and our own ecommerce webstore. Is it okay to have the same item description (i.e. main page copy) on each of these sites, or will our search rankings get negatively impacted? Thank you in advance, I have researched on this issue also but I couldn't find a concrete answer. Tanay

                        Top 5 most optimized websites

Throwing this question out to the community but was wondering if anyone can direct me on how I can find the top 5 or 10 ten sites that have been most optimized for search engines. Meaning which web sites have the best reputation when it comes to website optimization for search engines or is there a resource where I can read about websites that have been ranked as the best when it comes to following best practices and have constantly ranked well within their industry? Figured it's always a good idea to learn from the best by looking at what they are doing. Thank you.
