We are in the direct mail advertising business:  PrintLabelAndMail.com

      Example:

      Parent:
      Postcard Direct Mail

      Children:
      Postcard Mailings
      Postcard Design
      Postcard Samples
      Postcard Pricing
      Postcard Advantages

should "postcard" be repeated in the URL and Page Title?

and in this example should each of the 5 children link back directly to the parent or would it be better to "daisy chain" them using each as parent for the next?

That might be splitting hairs but if I were to choose, I'd point them at which ever had the stiffest competition--if that were the parent, I'd point the sub pages back to it; if one of the sub pages has the toughest go of it, I'd consider daisy chaining them.  Some of the value of that linking would probably depend on how evenly PR is spread between the pages, the page's locations in the site architecture, where the the links are located on the page, and whether such linking helps or hurts the conversion process, so ultimately, the desired value of such sculpting may be hard to realize.

          thanks Chris

          how about the 2nd part

in this example should each of the 5 children link back directly to the parent or would it be better to "daisy chain" them using each as parent for the next?

            Andrea,

You're OK using "postcard" in the child pages with child pages you mentioned, as those topics can be written about in ways that indicate distinct differences from the parent topic. However, in those pages, I'd limit the use of "direct" in your copy in order to distance them from the topic of the parent page.

Using 410 To Remove URLs Starting With Same Word

We had a spam injection a few months ago.  We successfully cleaned up the site and resubmitted to google.  I recently received a notification showing a spike in 404 errors. All of the URLS have a common word at the beginning injected via the spam: sitename.com/mono
              sitename.com/mono.php?buy-good-essays
sitename.com/mono.php?professional-paper-writer There's about 100 total URLS with the same syntax with the word "mono" in them.  Based on my research, it seems that it would be best to serve a 410.  I wanted to know what the line of HTACCESS code would be to do that in bulk for any URL that has the word "mono" after the sitename.com/

Create Page Titles from H1 using Yoast?

I'm working on a site that has 280 blog posts that have either been migrated from an old CMS site or created on the Dev version of the new WordPress site. We've written 280 unique meta descriptions so they don't truncate but it there a quick way I can export the current H1s and then import them into Yoast so they are set as the Page Titles? I've written unique Page Titles and meta descriptions for all the Service and Products page and just want a way to speed up the blog posts as their H1s are really good and what I would use as Page Titles anyway. Any help, greatly appreciated!

Seeing URL Slugs as search result titles

I've been seeing some search results for my site that look like the first result here, where the URL slug is used as SERP title: https://drive.google.com/a/fitsmallbusiness.com/file/d/0B37y4RslpuY-a0hQYjlJQ0NxeFJicDF6RVlURFVSNFN0aGhB/view?usp=sharing The article title (and Yoast snippet title) are both "28 Press Release Examples From The Pros", but for some reason I'm seeing "press-release-examples" in the search results. I've seen this for multiple articles, and I see it now and then with different articles. I'm aware that Google often changes the titles in search results, but it seems very weird to me that they would opt for just the URL slug here. Thoughts? Has anyone else seen this issue? Any idea what might be causing this? All help much appreciated.

Can OG titles be used as a substitute for Meta titles

We use og (open graph) titles in lieu of meta titles. Is there any downside to using just one. Should we be using both og and meta titles on our page. Appreciate any insight. Himanshu

Duplicate Page Content and Titles from Weebly Blog

Anyone familiar with Weebly that can offer some suggestions? I ran a crawl diagnostics on my site and have some high priority issues that appear to stem from Weebly Blog posts.  There are several of them and it appears that the post is being counted as "page content" on the main blog feed and then again when it is tagged to a category.  I hope this makes sense, I am new to SEO and this is really confusing. Thanks!

Is the Authority of Individual Pages Diluted When You Add New Pages?

I was wondering if the authority of individual pages is diluted when you add new pages (in Google's view). Suppose your site had 100 pages and you added 100 new pages (without getting any new links). Would the average authority of the original pages significantly decrease and result in a drop in search traffic to the original pages? Do you worry that adding more pages will hurt pages that were previously published?

Drupal URL Aliases vs 301 Redirects + Do URL Aliases create duplicates?

Hi all! I have just begun work on a Drupal site which heavily uses the URL Aliases feature. I fear that it is creating duplicate links. For example:: we have http://www.URL.com/index.php and http://www.URL.com/ In addition we are about to switch a lot of links and want to keep the search engine benefit. Am I right in thinking URL aliases change the URL, while leaving the old URL live and without creating search engine friendly redirects such as 301s? Thanks for any help! Christian

Deep Page Link - url no longer exists

I used Open Site Explorer and found a link to our site on http://www.business.com/guides/bedding-supplies-3639/  The link was setup to go to an important, deep page on my website, but the structure of our urls changed and the url no longer exists. The link (anchor text 'National Hospitality Supply') does direct to our homepage, www.nathosp.com. My question is, am I receiving full link juice? Or would I be better served to create a 301 redirect to the revised / new page url? In case it matters, if I had my choice I'd prefer the link to go to the intended deep page. Thanks in advance for your insight. -Josh Fulfer
