Too many reviews too quickly?
-
Is there any sort of guideline on this? Right now, we have very few google reviews. However, I've cross referenced a list of our happiest clients with people who have g+ accounts. There are at least 12 clients, I feel strongly would write us g+ reviews if I asked them to. I want to just get the word out today, but I'm worried if 8-12 reviews in a week would red flag us.
I've heard that getting too many reviews to quickly can be a problem, but I'm thinking that more like 100 than 10, but I have no idea. Most of my competitors don't have any reviews, and the most any of them have is 10. I don't know if that matters at all either in terms of triggering a red flag.
I'd appreciate whatever insight you all could give.
Thanks,
Ruben

I have the same question. While I appreciate the replies from Andy and Miriam, neither backed up their answers with evidence. Has Google ever stated specifically that too many reviews too quickly could get a site penalized or have the reviews not "count?" Or has anyone ever published research or examples?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Ruben,
Sounds like a good plan, and it's one you should continue to go by, for all time.
-
Alright, so we'll keep it to 1-2 a week till we get established. Thanks!

Hi Ruben,
I would not advise going for 8-12 new reviews in a week. I think Andy's suggestion of staggering your requests over several weeks is a better idea. What you're trying to avoid here is having your hard-earned reviews filtered out by Google's review filter. Frequency is one thing that appears to trip that filter, so most Local SEOs recommend a slowly-but-surely approach to requesting reviews.
-
Hi Ruben,
Some services will get that many reviews daily, so I wouldn't have said that 8-12 in a week was a problems.
That said, I always tend to err on the side of caution, so perhaps drip-feed them over a 2-3 week period if you want to make sure you are safe.

What is the best practice way to attribute a Google Review?
An example might be a local directory site, where multiple businesses are featured. To flesh out the respective business profiles, Google Reviews are included. Copying/pasting would be the definition of duplicate content. I wonder though if hyperlinking to the review itself would be enough? For a random example: "you literally have never had better ice cream. cutest shop in charleston sc" - Mandee Jalbert, Google Review Google doesn't appear to have a review embed option- am I wrong? If not, would the above attribution via the "Google Review" hyperlink be sufficient to head off any potential dings for duplicate content? Thanks! Stephen

Google Reviews & Third Party Reviews
Hi We have a third party review provider, but were also looking at increasing our Google reviews. However after more research, should Google reviews only be used on local listings? For organisations which don't have a physical location to buy from - is the solution to use organisation schema, which incorporates 'reviews on other sites' with the hope Google may show your Feefo review count? When checking similar companies - all seem to have the organisation knowledge card and not the local Google My Business listing. Is it worth pursuing extra reviews on Google My Business or not? Thanks!

Do people receive notifications when you respond to their Google reviews?
If someone leaves a review of your business on your Google My Business listing, and you respond to that review, will they receive an email notification of your response to their review? We are working with a client who has unanswered reviews from several years ago, and though it's best practice to respond to all reviews, we didn't want to respond to reviews from 2013 if the person (who has likely forgot about their experience with the business in question) is going to get an email notifying them of our late response to their review. Thank you!

How many backlinks do i need to outrank my competition?
Ok lets say i am doing local seo in atlanta georgia usa for the keyword "wholesale atlanta ga" When you search "wholesale atlanta ga" the 1st result is hallsatlanta.com under geo search citations, which has 5 backlinks from 2 referring domains with the highest pa of 26 1. then www.bufordwholesale.com/ 1st on organic search with 7 dofollow backlinks with highest pa 43 and from 1 domain 2. http://www.yelp.com/biz/e-mart-wholesale-atlanta2nd I am assuming i just need to get my site submitted to yelp for this backlink, perhaps more citations to outrank. 3. www.wlexperts.com/ 3rd on serps with 3 dofollow links, highest pa 31, coming from 2 domains So to sum it up, if i wanted to outrank a new website for keyword "wholesale atlanta ga" technically all i would need is 8 dofollows backlinks, pa 44+, 3 referring domains, 2 local citations ? And of course repeat this same process for all of my keywords?, my on-page seo is already optimized

Why does Google return 1 star reviews in local listings as the "most helpful"?
I have a client who has recently received two 1 star reviews on Google local (unhappy customer and unhappy customers boyfriend). This is affecting an otherwise flourishing business as these two 1 star reviews are displayed prominently when you search for the brand in Google. They have since received more positive reviews, however Google insists on displaying, what they term, the "most helpful" reviews first. Why are these 1 star reviews deemed "most helpful"? In all honesty, they aren't even really that helpful, with the latter verging on slanderous. We are in the process of reporting this one as it personally attacks a member of staff, however, whilst we tentatively wait weeks for a response, I wondered if anyone has any idea on how G decides which reviews are "most helpful"? When there is no option for other users to rate these reviews as helpful (such as on play store).

Moving my photography business to another state. Is it possible to transfer Google My Business listing WITHOUT losing my Google Reviews?
A friend of mine is transitioning her photography business to another state. She moved about 5 years ago and consequently lost all of her Google+/Yelp reviews. Having reviews as a photographer is EXTREMELY important for her business reputation. She doesn't want this to happen again. Is it possible to change the location of a Google my Business page and keep the existing reviews? Thanks

Migrating Reviews from Old SIte
We recently changed our Website to Word Press and I would like to move the old reviews to the new site. I am concerned Google might not understand the reviews showing up all of a sudden. The old reviews were on a sub-domain (store.domain.com). I will be able to match the dates and text as well as names. Any advice or Best Practice on this? Thanks!
