Can you get rich snippets for Youtube hosted videos?

My website has several videos, mostly product reviews and tutorials. I'd like for these videos to show in the SERPs with rich snippets, but I am hosting them through Youtube. What is your experience with Youtube hosted videos? Do they generate rich snippets? Or will Google always rank the Youtube video over your web page?

Sure! Have read of this one http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/blog/building-a-video-seo-strategy

Thanks for the response, Dan! You reaffirmed what I was thinking. Even if we get the proper rich snippets markup implemented it will be hard to rank above Youtube. Phil, do you have any other reasons why it "strategically makes little sense"?

 Good point - thanks Phil!

Just on the "unlisted" question - the problem with doing this is that you then lose almost all of the value of having the videos on YouTube in the first place, yet still have to deal with sub-optimal analytics. Similarly, you can use the YouTube API with a third party player, but the only value you then get from YouTube is free hosting (but with sub-par tracking).

You can add markup to videos in your website even hosted on YouTube. Here are a few resources; - http://www.sistrix.com/video-rich-snippets/

The problem as you mentioned, is the fact YouTube will most likely outrank you depending on the specifics of the query. You may try making the videos "unlisted" (that is people can only find the YouTube URL with a direct link) but still embed. I don't have direct experience with this though. Ultimately, to rank a video on your site with rich snippets etc you may want to self host with a platform like Wistia. Also, whichever platform you use, don't forget to create a video sitemap. This is a great resource on Distilled about video sitemaps: https://www.distilled.net/blog/video/creating-video-sitemaps-for-each-video-hosting-platform/

		Does Autoplay video effect SEO?
I'm trying to find out if autoplay videos (muted) on the homepage effect seo in anyway? Currently our site ranks around position four on the first page, but we have noticed one competitor we monitor have long auto playing videos on their sites and were wondering if they are a good or bad factor? Any info you would like to share would be great. Thanks Image & Video Optimization | | 5TW0

Is getting views to an infographic through Imgur beneficial to SEO?
I'm considering posting infographics to Imgur in addition to hosting them on my site in an effort to leverage Reddit a bit more this year. My concern is that, if all goes well, we'll get a ton of views through Reddit to Imgur, maybe a couple clickthroughs to the site, and links to (probably) the Imgur page. I don't see that Imgur gives your profile a followed link, so how would any of this help SEO. I assume it would, because respected guys like John Dougherty espouse the benefits of Reddit, but I can't see how and I need to justify the effort to my department head. My wistia videos are not being index by Google. Does anyone know what can be happening?
I have the wistia site map on my robots.txt file and I also manually submit the site map to google. It shows that my videos were submitted successfully but they are not being indexed. Thanks Image & Video Optimization | | bedbugsupply0

Do I need to use a CNAME for wistia video hosting?
I'm using Wisita for video hosting. My strategy is to allow other sites to embed videos to get links - I want the video linking back to my site not wistia or the embeding site. Do I need to use the Wistia CNAME or is a wistia subdomain acceptable? Image & Video Optimization | | BruceMcG0

How can I get around creating multiple Gmail accounts with the same phone number?
You know how, when you setup a Gmail account, Google asks you for a phone number to verify the account? I've run into a problem where Google is not letting me create anymore accounts with the same phone number. I set up an account for every new client we take on so that we have complete control of the inbox for verification purposes. Is there a way to get around this verification issue? We tried an app called Burner Phone but found out Google won't call the number because it's not supported by any major providers (e.g. Verizon, AT&T, etc.). Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!
