Problem with redirects in coldfusion

How to redirect pages in cold fusion? If using ColdFusion and modrewrite, the URL will never be redirected from ModRewrite.

Hi! The "Analyze Issues by Page" section actually just says that we didn't crawl that URL, not that it throws a 500 so there isn't an analysis we can provide. http://screencast.com/t/4dY8SZBs You can wait to see if that page is crawled during your next weekly update or run a crawl through the Crawl Test tool (in Research Tools). Crawl test will give you an analysis of up to 3k pages. There is a chance it still won't be crawled, but it is a way to get updated diagnostic data before the next scheduled weekly crawl. There was one 500 reported in the crawl and I can confirm it's still throwing that error, but it's a completely different page. Hope this helps clear things up!

Ok, it looks like you've set up your redirects correctly. Let me see if I can get someone who can help figure out what's going on with your crawl report. - Jen

I use Crawl Diagnostic 'Analyze Issue Page by Page' and when I check this page: http://www.weddingrings.com/item.cfm?str_shortdesc=UNIQUE it returns 500 error and doesn't show redirect

I just checked your URL and it does show a 301 redirect in my browser, in our Moz toolbar, and with our Moz crawler. Are you possibly looking at an old crawl report? Thanks! Jen

I am trying to put redirects in cold fusion but when I crawl the page in moz analytics it still gives me error 500. The redirect should point from http://www.weddingrings.com/item.cfm?str_shortdesc=UNIQUE to I use the following code <cfif query_string="" eq="" "str_shortdesc="UNIQUE""><cfheader statuscode="301" statustext="Moved Permanently"><cfheader name="Location" value="/item.cfm?str_shortdesc=UNIQUE%20CARRE%20CUT%20DIAMOND%20ETERNITY%20BAND&str_category=Diamond-Bands-and-Gold-Rings&grouping_id=9&category_id=21&int_item_id=6884"><cfabort></cfabort></cfheader></cfheader></cfif>

Hello! Can you give a bit more information about your set up? Coldfusion does have redirect tags you can use, but normally Coldfusion runs on IIS, so you need to set up the redirects there.

301 Redirect - Rank Recovery Examples?
Hi All, I recently did a 301 redirect. Page to Page and the notified google via its console. Its been 6 days since. The home page and one other high traffic page swopped out with the new domain on google search index with 3-4 drops in ranking for each. The rest of the sites pages have been indexed but still reflect the old domain when searched. Recently today my home page dropped even further to the second page of google index for the specific keyword. Can you share similar experiences and how long it took you to recover rank fully? and how long for all pages to swop out on google search's index? Several 301 Redirects to Same Page
Hi, I have 3 Pages we won't use anymore in our website. Let's call them url A, url B and url C. To keep their SEO strength on our domain, I've though about redirecting all of them to url D. For what I understand, when 301 redirecting, about 85-90% of the link SEO juice is passed. Then, if I redirect 3 URLs to the same page... does url D receive all the link SEO juices for URLs added up? (approximately) Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | viatrading1
 e.g. future url D juice = 100% current url D juice + 85% url A juice + 85% url B juice + 85% url C juice Is this the best practice, or is there a better way? Cheers,0

Does a 302 redirect pass penalties?
I'm having problems finding a definitive answer to this question, there is a lot of rumour and gossip out there but nothing I can rely on. I'm working with a site that received an unnatural links notice followed by a massive drop in search traffic. Looking at the link profile it's pretty much jacked beyond repair and I have recommended that we move over to a fresh domain. However, it's an established brand with many more sources of traffic than organic search. There's no way we can burn all their repeat visits, loyal customers, brand recognition that they've built up over the years so I want to redirect from the old domain to the new. This is not to try and make any SEO gain from the previous site, frankly we don't give a crap about that. We just want to maintain the brand. A 302 is a temporary redirect, this will be a permanent move BUT a 301 will pass on the penalty. So can we safely use a 302 redirect in this situation or is there a better alternative (meta refresh?) Thanks for your help! MB. Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | MattBarker0

Moving Content To Another Website With No Redirect?
I've got a website that has lots of valuable content and tools but it's been hit too hard by both Panda and Penguin. I came to the conclusion that I'd be better off with a new website as this one is going to hell no matter how much time and money I put in it. Had I started a new website the first time it got hit by Penguin, I'd be profitable today. I'd like to move some of that content to this other domain but I don't want to do 301 redirects as I don't want to pass bad link juice. I know I'll lose all links and visitors to the original website but I don't care. My only concern is duplicate content. I was thinking of setting the pages to noindex on the original website and wait until they don't appear in Google's index. Then I'd move them over to the new domain to be indexed again. Do you see any problem with this? Should I rewrite everything instead? I hate spinning content...! Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | sbrault741

Multiple 301 Redirects for the Same Page
Hi Mozzers, What happens if I have a trail of 301 redirects for the same page? For example, Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Travis-W
 SiteA.com/10 --> SiteA.com/11 --> SiteA.com/13 --> SiteA.com/14 I know I lose a little bit of link juice by 301 redirecting.
The question is, would the link juice look like this for the example above? 100% --> 90% --> 81% -->72.9%
Or just 100% -----------------------------------------> 90% Does this link juice refer to juice from inbound links or links between internal pages on my site? Thanks!0

Redirecting Canonical 301s and Magento Website
I have an issue with a client's website where it has 3700+ pages, but roughly half of them are duplicates. Thankfully, the only difference between the original and the duplictes is the "?print" at the end of each URL (I suppose this is Magento's way of making a printable page version of the same page. I don't know, I didn't build it.) My questions is, how can I get all the pages like this http://www.mycompany.com/blah.html?print to redirect to pages like this... http://www.mycompany.com/blah.html Also, do they NEED to be Canonical, or will a 301 redirect be sufficient. Also, after having done this, if anybody knows, is there a way I can turn that feature off in Magento, because we're expanding our product line, and I don't want to have to keep chasing after these "?print" pages after the fact. Iframe redirect bad for SEO?
Hi, I have a website (http://www.blowingminds.de) wich I put a spreadshirt shop into via iframe. The thing is I am not sure on how the iframe effects my SEO? Can I just optimise the main domain for search? Well I want the spreadshirt shop to be found under the domain name (www.blowingminds.de) but the only real way to do it is by implementing an iframe because each spreadshirt shop has its own subdomain eg.: blowingminds.spreadshirt.de but the only real way to do it is via iframe, as they do not offer a complete domain redirect. (Or have I overseen some other way?) I hope you guys can help me on this one 🙂 Thanks in advance.
