Website Ranking well in Mobile but not in Desktop

Hello guys,
Recently we are experiencing good rankings for our targeted keywords in mobile but in desktop the rankings are not progressing.
For example, in Mobile, our main targetted keyword ranks in 7th position but in Desktop we are stuck in 11th position. In desktop the website have been stuck in 11th position for quite some time now, any suggestion will help.

Assuming the mobile site is a "m." make sure your using the rel=alternate tag to tell google the different versions.

Sounds like you have an mobile optimized Website (responsive, correct redirects, somthing like that) or your website has a pretty good User-Experience when it is used on mobile and some of your competitors don't.

Is your website responsive, or do you have a separate mobile site?
If it's a separate mobile site, is there a difference between the content on each? If so, I'd have a look at the content and investigate whether the mobile version is more user friendly, for example.
If it's a responsive site, or if the content is the same, I'd investigate the competition. Perform a search for the keyword from a mobile device, and from a desktop device, and check if the websites which are ranking above you on desktop but not mobile have mobile-friendly websites. I've seen this affect some clients more and more, and where we have a mobile-friendly site, that site often ranks slightly better for mobile queries.

There could be many factors affecting this, are you able to provide more details (Key term, what page is ranking, etc) you are having the issue with? With a little more detail some of the intelligent folks here could offer some suggestions/theories.

Need advice: How to replace a high-ranking pdf with a landing page -- without dropping much in rank?
Hi! We have a pdf of a white paper on our site that ranks #1 for a niche term. We are now exploring the idea of building a landing page for this paper with an overview (2-3 paragraphs) and a registration form for interested parties to fill out in order to access the paper. Do you think there'd be any hope of ensuring the new landing page would rank almost as well eventually (top 3)? I'm thinking a key consideration would be preserving the link juice from the existing links that are coming into the pdf, and that 301 redirecting the pdf URL to the new landing page URL could help with that. Am I right? Or would it be better to try to reach out to the linking sites and ask them to update their links (seems daunting). Any advice/opinions on this situation would be appreciated. (If folks think that there would be a significant risk of permanently dropping out of the top 5 by attempting this, we would likely choose to leave the pdf ungated as is.) Thanks!! -John

Does More Guest Posts Effect Website Rankings in a Negative Way?
Hello Everyone, On an average I am getting around 20 backlinks for 15 days. All these backlinks are done through proper outreach and guest posts in relevant websites. We have a team of four people doing only outreach and getting backlinks through proper guest posts. But I am worried on whether it will effect my website ranking in a negative way? Duplicate contents with competitors websites
Hello, I have use the http://copyscape.com to check the duplicate content and found that my website have some errors duplicate contents with other competitors website. But a problem is, I could not define the reason of this (my website copied the competitors website or they copied of mine) To solve this issues, should I modify a unique my contents (this is difficult) or anyone have a good solution for this problem? Blog articles on website vs submitting to article submission sites
I had some articles created for a client. The site is on WordPress. I'm wondering if it is best to add the articles to the blog page of the website or if it is better to submit the articles to ezine articles. Or can I submit the same article to both places? Is there a strategy that should be followed generally speaking when creating content for the blog vs article submission sites? The goal is to increase the ranking for target keywords. Why is my homepage ranking BELOW a subpage?
Search "peer to peer lending". The page http://www.ratesetter.com/peer_to_peer_lending.htm appears higher than the homepage. I don't think this is because of keyword density on page either as Zopa (competitor) have zero mentions of this keyword on their homepage. What are your suggestions for getting the homepage ranked higher? Thanks, Simon.
