Site-wide Canonical Rewrite Rule for Multiple Currency URL Parameters?

Hi Guys,
I am currently working with an eCommerce site which has site-wide duplicate content caused by currency URL parameter variations. Example:
https://www.marcb.com/?setCurrencyId=3
https://www.marcb.com/?setCurrencyId=2
https://www.marcb.com/?setCurrencyId=1
My initial thought is to create a bunch of canonical tags which will pass on link equity to the core URL version. However I was wondering if there was a rule which could be implemented within the .htaccess file that will make the canonical site-wide without being so labour intensive.
I also noticed that these URLs are being indexed in Google, so would it be worth setting a site-wide noindex to these variations also?

Added to note - you can also use GDC to inform Google which URL parameters should be ignored when indexing - can be a quick shortcut initially, but you'll definitely want to get rel-canonical properly implemented for Google as well as all the other search engines.

This issue is resolved by adding a single self-referential rel-canonical tag to the header of each page of the site, Catherine. Once you've done that, the URLs that contain the parameters will automatically contain the canonical to the primary URL (because the pages' code are actually the same - it's just the URL itself that is changing. By which I mean - there aren't separate pages for each of the currencies. They're are all the same page code, with just the parameter added to the URL and prices dynamically changed.)
This does mean that the search engines would index the page with the default prices, which appears to be Euros.
For example, if your home page had a self-referential canonical tag, it's canonical tag would be
<link rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" href="<a class="attribute-value">http://www.marcb.com</a>" />
While this may seem redundant, it also means that this URL https://www.marcb.com/?setCurrencyId=2 would also contain the above canonical tag, since the page is actually built from the same code. So it's canonical would point to the correct URL automatically, without having to do anything specific for all those variations. This is a core function of how CMSs (Content Management Systems) templates work. This time it works in your favour.
You definitely don't want to no-index those parameter-based variations even if you could. Once you get the canonicals properly implemented, you want the search crawlers to keep crawling those pages URLs so they can discover the corrected canonicals and understand that they are intentional dupes of the core page. They'll eventually drop the parameter-based URLs out of the index, which you can monitor in your Google Search Console, for example. There's a major benefit to the site if the search crawlers aren't wasting their time on duplicate/useless pages, as well as reducing potential issues with Panda/Quality algorithms, so well worth getting this corrected right away.

Breaking up a site into multiple sites
Hi, I am working on plan to divide up mid-number DA website into multiple sites. So the current site's content will be divided up among these new sites. We can't share anything going forward because each site will be independent. The current homepage will change to just link out to the new sites and have minimal content. I am thinking the websites will take a hit in rankings but I don't know how much and how long the drop will last. I know if you redirect an entire domain to a new domain the impact is negligible but in this case I'm only redirecting parts of a site to a new domain. Say we rank #1 for "blue widget" on the current site. That page is going to be redirected to new site and new domain. How much of a drop can we expect? How hard will it be to rank for other new keywords say "purple widget" that we don't have now? How much link juice can i expect to pass from current website to new websites? Thank you in advance.

Does rewriting a URL affect the page authority?
Hi all, I recently optimized an overview page for a car rental website. Because the page didn’t rank very well, I rewrote the URL, putting the exact keyword combination in it. Then I asked Google to re-crawl the URL through Search Console. This afternoon, I checked Open Site Explorer and saw that the Page Authority had decreased to 1, while the subpages still have an authority of about 18-20. Hence my question: is rewriting a URL a bad idea for SEO? Thank you,

Replace dynamic paramenter URLs with static Landing Page URL - faceted navigation
Hi there, got a quick question regarding faceted navigation. If a specific filter (facet) seems to be quite popular for visitors. Does it make sense to replace a dynamic URL e.x http://www.domain.com/pants.html?a_type=239 by a static, more SEO friendly URL e.x http://www.domain.com/pants/levis-pants.html by creating a proper landing page for it. I know, that it is nearly impossible to replace all variations of this parameter URLs by static ones but does it generally make sense to do this for the most popular facets choose by visitors. Or does this cause any issues? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance

Weird 404 URL Problem - domain name being placed at end of urls

Best way to implement canonical tags on an ecommerce site with many filter options?
What would be the best way to add canonical tags to an ecommerce site with many filter options, for example, http://teacherexpress.scholastic.com? Should I include a canonical tag for all filter options under a category even though the pages don't have the same content? Thanks for reading!

Outranking a crappy outdated site with domain age & keywords in URL.
I'm trying to outrank a website with the following: Website with #1 ranking for a search query with "City & Brand" Domain Authority - 2 Domain Age - 11 years & 9 months old Has both the City & brand in the URL name. The site is crap, outdated.. probably last designed in the 90's, old layouts, not a lot of content & NO keywords in the titles & descriptions on all pages. My site ranks 5th for the same keyword.. BEHIND 4 pages from the site described above. Domain Authority - 2 Domain Age - 4 years & 2 months old Has only the CITY in the URL. Brand new site design this past year, new content & individual keywords in the titles, descriptions on each page. My main question is.... do you think it would be be beneficial to buy a new domain name with the BRAND in the URL & CITY & 301 redirect my 4 year old domain to the new domain to pass along the authority it has gained. Will having the brand in the URL make much of a difference? Do you think that small step would even help to beat the crappy but old site out? Thanks for any help & suggestions on how to beat this old site or at least show up second.

Best approach to launch a new site with new urls - same domain
www.sierratradingpost.com We have a high volume e-commerce website with over 15K items, an average of 150K visits per day and 12.6 pages per visit. We are launching a new website this spring which is currently on a beta sub domain and we are looking for the best strategy that preserves our current search rankings while throttling traffic (possibly 25% per week) to measure results. The new site will be soft launched as we plan to slowly migrate traffic to it via a load balancer. This way we can monitor performance of the new site while still having the old site as a backup. Only when we are fully comfortable with the new site will we submit the 301 redirects and migrate everyone over to the new site. We will have a month or so of running both sites. Except for the homepage the URL structure for the new site is different than the old site. What is our best strategy so we don’t lose ranking on the old site and start earning ranking on the new site, while avoiding duplicate content and cloaking issues?
