True or False? Having your phone number in the header of your nav bar is good for SEO?

I have been told by a a few different SEO and Marketing Agency friends that by putting your address and phone number in the top section of your navbar is great for SEO. Does this myth have any merit or is it just misguided?

Depending on the scenario, it could help because it would cause Google to read your address before anything else and if you're a local business, that could help gain relevance. This is one of those things that should be super easy to test so I'll add it to my bucket list of items to test out.

- schema
- or google my business
So if one of your client is looking your phone number and type
YOURBUSINESS PBX or whatever google can give the right answer.But as everybody set that will not help you to rank better.

Sure, having the company contact info (phone & address) up there serves well for your site visitors to reach you (which is GREAT) but does not offer any real value from an SEO standpoint.

No really. Not having any contact information across your homepage might be a issue. But giving phone number on top nav menu will not bring you more benefits. In fact, you can give more important info like sub topics on top nav menu to rank well for that keywords. If you are giving phone number as image, don't forget to give alt img info for same.

It is not true at all. Adding your phone number and address will help the readers to reach you faster. It has no direct impact on the SEO of your site at all.

Homepage SEO optimization

ECommerce Filtering Affect on SEO
I'm building an eCommerce website which has an advanced filter on the left hand side of the category pages. It allows users to tick boxes for colours, sizes, materials, and so on. When they've made their choices they submit (this will likely be an AJAX thing in a future release, but isn't at time of writing). The new filtered page has a new URL, which is made up of the IDs of the filter's they've ticked - it's a bit like /department/2/17-7-4/10/ My concern is that the filtered pages are, on the most part, going to be the same as the parent. Which may lead to duplicate content. My other concern is that these two URLs would lead to the exact same page (although the system would never generate the 'wrong' URL) /department/2/17-7-4/10/ /department/2/**10/**17-7-4/ But I can't think of a way of canonicalising that automatically. Tricky. So the meat of the question is this: should I worry about this causing issues with the SEO - or can I have trust in Google to work it out?

Trying to SEO a site that used Header Tags for Design
I am trying to SEO a website that was built years ago and uses Header tags for design. The site must have 25 and tags used for design purpose. Is there any way to work around this problem? Perhaps a code that tells Google to ignore these as Headers? The web designers say that they are looking to fix the problem sometime this summer but you never know if that means it a month away or years away. I really want to help this website but I believe that the Header tags are one of the reasons that his site does not show in the top 100 rankings for any keywords. I feel like because they don't contribute to the actual content structure and because they are repeated from page to page, we should avoid them, but I have nothing to back my intuition. Does show/hide element with javascript impact SEO
Hi I am developing an ecommerce site and want to place text on all category and home page. The challenge is that 300 words of text for the pages does not fit into the design appropriately especially on the home page. If I were to use a show/hide element with javascript would this be seen as spam or a trick to the search engines. I do not think it is spam as it will be actual content for the site and the visitor can view it if they click on the show button. Would love to hear your thoughts?
