Focus Keyword
-
Hi everyone!
I am pretty new to SEO so all the help would be great.
Does every webpage on our website need a focus keyword for example like the about us page.
We have webpages for every location in the UK - Would it be helpful if the location webpages had a focus keyword also?
Just to note that I am using Yoast on Wordpress.
Many thanks,
Aqib -
Yes, each page on your website should have a focus keyword...just like when you are communicating about a topic in real life. Would you bounce around between basketball, baseball and football when you are in the middle of a conversation about the NBA all star game? Probably not.
When building content for specific keywords per page, I enjoy utilizing SEO quake for google chrome. Its keyword diagnosis and density tool, in my opinion, is far superior to Yoast. It helps identify on page standards and well as word count and density of single keywords and phrase keywords. Plus, its free.

The focus keyword is the keyword you would like to have a particular page optimised for. Yoast uses it to measure, rate and give you hints regarding your efforts to optimise for exactly that keyword on that particular page.
No not every webpage needs a focus keyword. There are webpages you probably simply don't care about because they don't need to be keyword optimised at all, e.g. checkout pages, privacy policy page, general terms and conditions page.
...We have webpages for every location in the UK - Would it be helpful if the location webpages had a focus keyword also?
Most likely yes. Optimise it the way your customer would search locally for your products/services: keyword for e.g. product/service + location in the UK
Here is an good Moz article about enhancing local landingpages (i.e. pages for different locations) I think is rather useful too: https://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/blog/overcoming-your-fear-of-local-landing-pages

Ranking for keywords in multiple zip codes
Hello, We are trying to rank for keywords locally. We are on the edge of four zip codes in our area and are competing with businesses in those zip codes. Should we track each keyword separately for each zip code, or just one zip code we're in?

Minor languages keyword research
Hello, I am in charge of doing a keyword research for several small countries in Europe, namely Hungary, Estonia and Latvia.
Keyword Research | | Lvet
I normally use the Keyword planner for Google Ads, but for Hungarian, Estonian and Latvian this tools seems to find no results for the keywords related to my websites. For example, in Hungarian the keyword "ajak toltoanyagok" ("lip fillers" in English) doesn't give any results (and yes, I am targeting my searches to Hungary and Hungarian). I have the same problems with Latvian and Estonian. Is there another tool that I could use and that could give me better results? Help! Cheers Luca rONwtZt0 -
Bye Bye Keyword Difficulty Tool :(
So the Keyword Difficulty Tool will be retired from the end of this month. Is anyone else worried about this? - because I just don't trust the numbers coming back from Keyword Explorer. Never have. I've even raised this with Moz staff previously, when there was a huge difference between the score given by the keyword difficulty tool vs keyword explorer. From what I see in Domain and Page authority and in the SERPs then the score from keyword difficulty tool, was always more accurate, and thankfully have been able to use both tools, but from next month I feel somewhat uneasy about solely relying on the score from Keyword Explorer. Thoughts? and feel free to run your own tests on keywords and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

Keyword Themes - What's in a theme?
I recently read the Moz guide for "How To Rank - 25 Step SEO Master Blue Print" and had a question on keyword themes. What is considered a theme? Is there a recommended number of keywords in a theme? For example, if my site is for listing and selling cars, would the following terms fit within the same "car" theme or should the terms be broken out by "cars general" / "car locations" / "car types"? Keyword research tools
So I went to a panel a while back that said Wordtracker is basically useless. I'm not using it as an end-all, be-all, but more for insights and context. Do you agree with that statement? The hosting company provides a keyword research tool, so I wasn't sure how seriously to take it. Have you guys been using Bing for the search data previously provided by Google's Keyword Research Tool? Do you find that to be a viable resource? Thanks.

Why does this keyword have much greater volume in Bing Keyword Research Tool than Google AdWords Keyword Planner?
I'm using the Google AdWords keyword planner and Bing Webmaster Keyword Research tool. For both, I'm trying to get accurate search volume for the exact term "advertising sales". Over the last thirty days, Bing reports a volume of 5,988. Google's average monthly search volume is 880. Given the market share Google has, I would expect a much higher volume, especially when compared to Bing. Can you offer some ideas of why this might be happening?

Keyword Difficulty Score Assesment
What is a good keyword difficulty score to pursue when deciding which keywords to try and rank on? I'm in a very competitive field and I am currently in the process of doing keyword research to look for the low hanging fruit.
