@eli-myers Hello, I have a question about disavow links.

We have some backlinks which have high spam scores, we gave google for disavowing, but we don't know when Moz will see that we gave google those links to disavow them.

              Hi Eli,

Any update on this feature? It's been over a year now since your post above. Has this moved on to the development roadmap now?

              Thanks
              Tom

                Hi Eli Myers,

Thanks for sharing that information! Just one more question - Does this mean that spam scores are also not updated since the links are still showing in Moz? What are the appropriate steps to take to lower spam scores and as a result, improve DA?

Thanks Eli 🙂 for response on the question, actually we do not know who is making bad links for our website. He is putting our website links on spamy websites, and MOZ is crawling and showing our website is spamy too. We have already put that links in disavow. But Still we are unable to remove that links or unable to contact with spamy websites and they are also not replying on our emails too.

Hope ! you will also create a new best strategy same as google disavow tool.

                    Thanks

                      Hi,

                      Thanks for contacting us!

We unfortunately will not detect that a link has been disavowed, this isn’t something we were able to include in the old or new DA models. Since disavowing links doesn't actually remove a link, it just signals to Google that the links isn't important, our crawler will continue to find the link.  We are working on having something like that built into Link Explorer, where if you disavow a link in Google, you can also mark it as disavowed in Moz, but I’m afraid that option isn't available yet.

Links will not drop out of the Moz index unless the links are actually removed and no longer link to you, or if we’re unable to crawl the page the link is on.

We’ll continue to improve our Domain Authority and Page Authority algorithms and strengthen our link index as the search landscape changes. In terms of future updates, we anticipate this new DA model being quite stable over time. We will keep track of possible changes that we might need to make and we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

I hope this helps but please let us know if there's more we can help to clarify!

                      Eli

How do you use Moz to research related topics?

Like most of the folks here I'm a pretty big fan of the content that comes out through Whiteboard Fridays, and I try to apply the things I learn, but one of the WBF videos that I'm following along with does not do a stellar job of detailing execution using Moz KW Explorer. https://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/blog/related-topics-in-seo-whiteboard-friday Now granted, this came out in 2016, but I still feel the core principle and strategy results in a higher quality piece of content and is still relevant to discovering and understanding searcher task completion requirements, and drafting content that fulfills those requirements. Towards the end Rand sort of mentions that you'll be able to do this with KW explorer, but I'm not really seeing the functionality. The steps I followed were to enter in the keyword in kw explorer, went to keyword suggestions, and selected "based on closely related topics" and ran it, but received no suggestions - came up blank. I then selected "based on broadly related topics" and the same thing happened. I tried this out with the keyword r22, keeping it very broad to start but that didn't seem to work. So what do you all do to perform this sort of research within Moz? Or do you even feel it's relevant in today's Rank Brain driven world?

                        Site crawl only shows homepage

Hi everyone, A client of us has a quite new website with a lot of URLs. (Google Search Console indicates around 5300.) However, when I execute a site crawl with screaming frog, or a crawl test in MOZ, it only shows me one URL, the homepage. Does somebody have an idea why the other pages of the website are not showing up? Thanks,
                        Jens

                        Moz Keyword Tool Monthly Volume

Ive recently put together a Keyword List of about 100 keywords on the Moz Keyword Explorer tool. One keyword, aerial filming, stood out as very low search volume of 51 - 100. I took the same 100 keywords and passed them through the Google Keyword Planner by Google AdWords. Aerial Filming has an average search volume of 1k - 10k according to the Keyword Planner. Even though Keyword Planner gives me a range of 1k - 10k, the lowest number is still 10 times higher than what the Moz Keyword Explorer was indicating. This drastic difference of volume was consistent across all 100 keywords. All of the Monthly Volume numbers were divided by 10. Why does Moz Keyword Tool display a search volume that is 10x less than what Google Keyword Planner is suggesting?

                        URL Link Counts

Hi Can someone clarify what the URL link counts in the SERP report means? Is this total internal links on this page? My followed internal links are very high compared with sites I am comparing against, some sites only have 1 internal followed link - is this possible? Have they simply no followed all the rest on that page?

Should I exclude prepositions in tracked keywords of moz analytics?

I'm new to Moz.  Just set up my trial campaign, and it had suggested many keywords.  Many of the phrases that were suggested do not contain prepositions. For example, instead of something like "sporting good stores in Chicago" it suggested "sporting good stores Chicago" Today, I looked at the on-page optimization suggestions, which are (of course) suggesting that I remove prepositions from my page to rank well. Well, as you know, that is unnatural to the reader.  But I suspect people are searching in higher volume, leaving the prepositions out.  I know that if I were to search for a sporting goods store in Chicago, I would probably leave out "in." What should I do?  Should I remove all the suggested keywords, and make them readable (which people are less like using in their search?)  Do I go back to all my pages and try to optimize it for a keyword that is natural, but does not include a preposition (such as Chicago sporting goods stores) or should I be doing something else?

                        Checking Do-follow using Moz Bar

Does anyone know how to check if a link is a do-follow or no-follow using the Moz bar? I believe there's a function that highlights and color codes the link so as to tell? Can't seem to turn this function on in my Moz Bar settings. Am I missing something completely obvious?

Hello, I have a contact form which generates thousands of duplicate crawl errors. I'm going to use  to block Google indexing these pages. Will this also block MOZ from crawling these pages and displaying the error? Thanks!
