URL parameters affecting link juice

I have a couple of quirks in my online shop that I'm ironing out. One of them is adding some URL parameters to product links.ie: website.com/product.html?&cat=0&featured=Y If someone links to this URL, will I get the link juice as if it was website.com/product.html ? I have URL parameters in Webmaster Tools and robots.txt set up to ignore them so they're not in the Google index, but I have found a few websites that have linked to us using these longer URL's and I'm wondering whether to write to them and ask them if they mind changing them or not.

In that case, use a canonical url and you should be fine. Have the canonical point to the page with no query string on it. You had me worried, I thought you might have a platform that needed the parameters to show products, then you mentioned you took them out in GWT. I have seen clients do that on the platforms that need the query strings and de-index all of their product pages.

I have an SEO pack installed on my shop that produces the ....product.html portion of the URL. However, a layout feature on the site calls on javascript and adds some 'junk' on to the end of it. I am going to have the coding on the page removed, but I now have people linking to ....product.html?&cat=0&featured=Y instead of .....product.html Likewise, I am about to set up an affiliate program and while I will be directing my affiliates to nofollow the links, I want to also set up an affiliate account for 'in-house' use and use them in blog posts to see whether my blog posts are converting in to sales. These URL's will also have a parameter at the end of them ie: ......product.html?partnerid=1234 (for example) Will I get the internal keyword link juice from the URL's with the partner ID on the end?

Can you be more clear, with all of the different ecommerce systems, most of them do the urls different. Are you saying that your ecommerce platform produces urls like site.com/product.html and that will take you to a product page? Or does the platform need the url parameters to figure out which product to display?

A link with "return false"- OSE sees as a No Followed Link
Hello, I couldn't find a clear answer to the impact on SEO for a link written in this way: [" class="expert_info" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">](w</span>ww.yourwebsite.com<span style=) [Does the "return false" act as a "no follow"? I came across this in our link data in Open Site Explorer which lists these links all as "no follows." However, an engineer I spoke to said that it shouldn't impact search engine behavior. Any ideas? Thank you in advance! -Sarah K.](w</span>ww.yourwebsite.com<span style=) Link Building | | OneMedical0

		Link Exchange
Hi everyone, I just started working for a client in a new niche. After reviewing the backlink profiles of his competitors I can see that the top sites are using a ton of link exchanges. They are from really spammy sites too. The kind that will link to anyone that provides a link back. Anyone else seeing much of this? Link Building | | SixTwoInteractive0

Does the ratio of external nofollow links to external "do follow" links matter in terms of SERPs ranking?
My site has an external link nofollow:dofollow ratio of approximately 1:1 That is, there are about as many nofollow external links as "do follow" external links. I have an impression that the ratio of no-follow to "do follow" links is a factor in the way that our website shows up in SERPs. I have the impression from reading a variety of sources, and from looking at Seomoz, that calculate "trust" factors as if they mattered (in SERPs), that seem to value a relatively low nofollow:dofollow ratio. Am I correct about that? Thanks, Link Building | | tcolling

Image only badges giving link juice!?!?
I see some chatter about badges, but no clear definition. A collegue of mine instituted badges on clients website, but these badges are only an image w/ hyperlink; no textual content. He is confident that this has worked successfully before as a link building strategy, which blew my mind. I thought we needed some text, and obviously optimizes anchor text for biggest benefit. Are these simple badges helpful, or do we need some html in there!? He also routes them through bit.ly to track impressions and clicks.. does that have any effect as well? Thanks!
