Inbound links from porn sites into a professional business services site - remove help?

The website in question was hacked four years ago and there was porn on the servers. It was used as a peer to peer torrent streamer. The images were deleted.
We have just found inappropriate inward bound links (with great link juice!!) - how can we remove these links - or should we?
any advice would be appreciated

Hi Felicity,
Andre is basically correct with his answer. We usually tell people not to worry about links like this as long as you have a Strong Link Profile. For example if you have a new website with no links and you suddenly get tons of bad links, you have a good chance of it hurting you. Now if you have a strong link profile with good links and you get some bad links, it's not going to do anything.
So I would only worry about it if those are the only links you have in your link profile, otherwise you should be okay.

As long as YOU know that you don't promote your site via porn/gambling sites then who cares? Explain to them your sites history and then they wont jump to conclusions when they see your link profile.
Its impossible to remove that link anyway, unless you contact the web-master.

yeah i suppose you are right BUT we were just about to start a link building program - if anyone was to do a SEOmoz analysis of the site surely they would think the website is questionable???

I wouldnt worry about links comming in. Aslong as you arnt linking out to these dogy sites your all good.
Think about it, if i wanted to penalize my competitor, i would purchase a whole bunch of porn links directing them to my competition and intern they get penalized. This doesn't happen, so you have nothing to worry about.

Spammy links redirecting to homepage of site -
Hey guys, I'm auditing a website at the moment and Moz is showing a few spammy links linking to it. The problem is these domains are all 301 redirecting to the domain I'm auditing. Let's say I'm auditing Site A. Site B is been flagged in Moz OSE with 12 spam flags. When I try to open Site B in a browser, it redirects back to Site A. What's the best thing to do, here? Disavowing domains redirecting to the site is surely a bad idea? Cheers.

Do inbound links to download .exe files improve SEO?
The site, (http://www.bartenderbarcodesoftware.com/) sells barcode software. They also provide free printer drivers on their site. During a recent domain change (before I started helping them), they began looking at their inbound links and found quite a few external sites linking to these download files. However, when someone clicks on the link on one of these sites (i.e. http://vvs-motor.com.ua/barcode-printer-drivers) it immediately begins downloading the file (i.e. http://www.seagullscientific.com/downloads/drivers/archive/7.2/7.2.4/Unimark_7.2.4.exe) without taking the visitor to the site. The owner would greatly prefer this traffic to engage with the site and is considering 301 redirecting those download links to an actual webpage. Question: Would this look suspicious to Google? Would this have a positive or negative effect on SEO? The last factor to consider is that many of these sites will likely just recreate the list based on the new links at some future point. Best way to remove unwanted links
Hello, The site I work with has a number of unwanted, unrealted and just generally spammy sites linking to our site. What is the best way to ask them to remove the links (formal notice asking to remove or more of a "hey, can you get remove this for us as a favor" tone)? Do you have any tips for getting rid of these links? Thank you!
