Google Analytics: Difference Between Goal Conversions & Goal Completions
-

When using Google Analytics, what is the difference between total goal conversions and total goal completions? We have many goals set up in a lead generation environment. Therefore, the only element of conversion is submitted a lead and arriving on the "Thank You" page. THose thank you pages are tagged accordingly. When we run reports though, the number of "Total Goal Conversions" and "Total Goal Completions" never match up.

Completions: The total number of completions for the requested goal number Total Completions: The total number of completions for all goals defined for your profile. Conversion Rate: (ga:goal(n)Completions / ga:visits) * 100 Total Conversion Rate: (ga:goalCompletionsAll / ga:visits) * 100 Reference: http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/gdata/dimsmets/goalconversions.html

Thanks for the response, Martijn. I've edited the initial Q&A post to better describe the situation we're evaluating.

Hi, Cool question, because a similar question around the definition of one of Google Analytics metrics was discussed last weekend at the Q&A. The difference between this two metrics lies in the fact that one is related to a specific goal and one isn't: Total Goal Conversions: "The number of goals completed by visitors.".
Total Goal Completions: "The total number of visitors who have completed all elements defined for this particular goal.".As you can see, the second definition is clearly for the completions of 1 specific goal. The other one is for all the goals combined. I have to admit that it's a bit tricky, but with this definition next to you hopefully it will help you any further! Happy analyzing!

Can you track two Google Analytics Accounts on one site?
If you have a site that had an old analytics account and then implemented a new one is it possible to run tracking code that records to both accounts without causing your site or data issues? We are doing this so we don't loose data at any point - ideally it wouldn't have been split between the two but making one redundant isn't an option. Ideally we would have merged the data from both accounts and had one - however the research we have done points to this not being a possibility - unless one of you guys knows different? It would be great if anyone has experience on any this.. Thanks Reporting & Analytics | | ChrisAllbones0

Is there a way to find out who the admin of a Google Analytics account is?
We have a client who has been searching high and low to gain access to the GA account that is tied to their website, but previous agencies keep stating they don't have access. Is there a way to find out who the admins are on a GA account with the tracking number so we can reach out to that person and ask them to admin the client? Google Analytics Real Time Not Working! :(
Hello Everyone, Today, the real time feature in my google analytics stopped working. I am able to see that traffic is visiting my site, but not in real time. The real time count is usually at 0. But, there are some instances where real time will come back online, but there will be only 1 unique visitor. At any given time, our website usually has 20 visitors or so..Has anyone encountered this issue? Where should i start looking for fixes? What are the possible problems? Thanks! Google Analytic - Is it possible to see which organic keyword triggered goals?
Hi, I am trying to see which of my Google organic keywords triggered my goals? In GA I click > Conversion > Goals > Overview > Source Medium (This then says where my goals came from but when I click Google / Organic it just brings me to the overview page of my organic traffic). Is it possible to see which organic keywords trigger goals? Reporting & Analytics | | AdvanceSystems0

How to remove unwanted dynamic parameters from a URL in Google Analytics
Hi, Would really appreciate some help with this. I have been experimenting with RegEx to achieve this but as I’ve never used it before am currently failing miserably. We have conversion pages i need to set goals for that are formatted as below: https://www.domain.co.uk//Application_Form/(S(ewhbqp5cki0mppuzukunkqno))/enterCardDetails.aspx I need to remove the (s(xxx)) section from the URL as rather than one pages i currently have thousands of unique URL's. What’s catching me out is that as it’s not a URL parameter I can’t discount and as half way through can’t just do head matches etc to /entercarddetails Help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Setting Up Google Analytic with Sub Folder Sites
What is the best way of setting up Google Analytic for a website that has many sub folders? The main site is example.com and it has 40 sub folder sites like example.com/uk example.com/France etc etc Would it be advised to track a single domain in Google Analytic then create filters for the sub folder sites. Filters > Include traffic from > Sub directories Also with this method is it possible to view overall incoming website stats for everything? Previous experience would be great with this thanks 🙂 Reporting & Analytics | | daracreative0
