Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !

Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

HI Again You are welcome - Ok - they are two separate pages that have basically the same content (all be a couple of minor differences) So - you have two options. If http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/page/101/ doesn't have any links to it, nor is it getting much traffic, then you may as well delete it. Otherwise do a 301 to http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/torix-peer-saskatchewan-telecommunications/ All the best PH292 (uk)

Thanks for the note. Here is a simple example of a page that pulls up two different URLS. http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/page/101/ http://www.datacenterscanada.com/blog/torix-peer-saskatchewan-telecommunications/

Hya Assuming it is as you say, that these two URLs in their own right (with no redirects in place) display exactly the same content - then yes, it is duplicate content. If Google has cached one of these then do a 301 redirect from the non-cached URL to the cached one. If neither have been cached (or you just don't know) then redirect the one that has the least optimised URL to the one with the optimised URL - I would guess the /blog/page/59 is the least optimised. You can find out in Google itself (or YouTube) how to do a 301 if you don't know - or look is SEOmoz Hope this helps, and all the best with it PH292

Pages and categories with the same name?
I manage a wordpress based site that is needing to under go a site architecture overhaul. the site is christ.org and one of the problems is it has 89 pages but really only 4 are navigatable (not a word apparently). The site also has over 400 posts so categories and parent pages are both definitely needed. One option is I convert a lot of the pages into posts, but would that happen to break any links pointing to those pages turned posts? Or another option is to keep the pages and posts and create a bunch of subpages, then I would most likely end up with similarly named categories and top level pages. I would guess the name of the category needs to be unique from page titles right? And not just unique but very much differentiated than any page title (not posts but page titles). Maybe what I need to do is convert the pages that are not really unique into posts and put them in the category it fits with. And then keep those that are unique as top level pages. The architecture needs some serious work I think 🙂 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Content Development | | ThridHour0

		Duplicate external links?
I have been guest posting at a variety of reputable blogs in my niche. I generally write once or twice a month and have a bio link with a link to my blog. I'm wondering if multiple links from the same domain (but different pages) helps, or if there are some diminishing returns here. Should I only be writing one post for them? Of course, there are other non-SEO benefits too, because these are reputable sites. But I'm wondering how this helps my SEO? Thanks in advance! Content Development | | JodiFTM0

Best Websites to help discover Topics
Hi I know I can use Twitter and latest posts on Google & Blogs, but I was wondering what are the best tools at the moment to use if you are looking to write about up to the minute information about a certain topic. Say the topic is London, is there a website or tag cloud to understand what people are saying about London right now? Anything better than Social Mention? Content Development | | xoffie0

2,500 Word blog post? What's your advice?
Most of my blog posts end up being 400-600 words, sometimes more, sometimes less. I have written one that is 2,500 words this time. If it were you, would you make one huge post, or split it into two or three? Or would you say it wholly depends on my site and the type of content? As far as link bait goes, one page is better . . . I guess. But would anyone ever read a 2,500 word blog post, even it it's about a subject he/she is interested in? Additionally, what's better for SEO? Just wants some second opinions. Thanks!
