Can adding multiple locations on a single page be confusing to Google?

Is using "LocalBusiness" with "branchof" the proper way of doing this?

Does anyone know of any resources that go into this type of thing in more detail?

I've read everything Google, Schema and SeoMoz seem to have on this topic. Thanks.

            Hi Kris,
Thank you for giving me a clearer picture of the business model. Unfortunately, there is a serious lack of documentation as to a 'correct' use of Schema in this scenario. Presumably, you've already seen documents like these:

            http://schema.org/LocalBusiness

            http://schema.org/Restaurant

This is the only type of example I have seen of this, and while these documents identify elements you can use, they don't give directions for how you MUST use them.

To my mind, the branchof tag would be for something like a franchise - a fast food chain or bank or something like that which has a corporate headquarters and branch locations. Please understand, I'm saying this is just my reading of the definition of that tag, but I have a feeling every business experimenting with schema is coming up with their own definitions of what these things mean.

Before Schema, when I was doing everything in hCard, I would simply create a different hCard data set for each business in a multi-location situation. This was pretty simple, but Schema offers so many different attributes.

I'll ask the other moderators here if they can give any additional input. In the meantime, in case this helps, here is a very nice free schema generator tool I found out about a month or so ago:

            http://schema-creator.org/

Please check back in. One of our other smart mods may have more to add to this subject.

Hi Miriam Thanks for the Response.

This is a Local CPA firm with 4 separate locations, 1 of which is used as the main mailing address, but none are really a corporate headquarters. All 4 locations are currently on the index page, the locations page, and in the footer of every page.

              Thanks for the help

                Hi Kris,

How many locations are you considering putting on a single page, what type of page is it, and what is the business model? Is it a franchise with corporate headquarters, or a collection of locations with no corporate headquarters?

Please, provide a bit more detail. Thanks!

                  Page Optimization Error

Hi, I am trying to track a page optimization feature for one of my project, https://shinaweb.com but i keep getting this below error: "PAGE OPTIMIZATION ERROR
There was a problem loading this page. Please make sure the page is loading properly and that our user-agent, rogerbot, is not blocked from accessing this page." I checked robots.txt file, it all looks fine. Not sure what is the problem? Is it a problem with Moz or the website?

Is it better to keep a glossary or terms on one page or break it up into multiple pages?

We have a very large glossary of over 1000 industry terms on our site with links to reference material, embedded video, etc. Is it better for SEO purposes to keep this on one page or should we break it up into multiple pages, a different page for each letter for example? Thanks.

Why are http and https pages showing different domain/page authorities?

My website www.aquatell.com was recently moved to the Shopify platform.  We chose to use the http domain, because we didn't want to change too much, too quickly by moving to https.  Only our shopping cart is using https protocol.  We noticed however, that https versions of our non-cart pages were being indexed, so we created canonical tags to point the https version of a page to the http version.  What's got me puzzled though, is when I use open site explorer to look at domain/page authority values, I get different scores for the http vs. https version.  And the https version is always better.  Example:  http://www.aquatell.com DA = 21 and https://www.aquatell.com DA = 27.  Can somebody please help me make sense of this?  Thanks,

Noindex child pages (whose content is included on parent pages)?

I'm sorry if there have been questions close to this before... I've using WordPress less like a blogging platform and more like a CMS for years now... For content management purposes we organize a lot of content around Parent/Child page (and custom-post-type) relationships; the Child pages are included as tabbed content on the Parent page. Should I be noindexing these child pages, since their content is already on the site, in full, on their Parent pages (ie. duplicate content)? Or does it not matter, since the crawlers may not go to all of the tabbed content? None of the pages have shown up in Moz's "High Priority Issues" as duplicate content but it still seems like I'm making the Parent pages suffer needlessly... Anything obvious I'm not taking into consideration? By the by, this is my first post here @ Moz, which I'm loving; this site and the forums are such a great resource! Anyways, thanks in advance!

                  Home page or landing page?

Hello, I want to ask a question related to that - Should we put keywords in the home page title if we wish to position another landing page better for particular keywords? I have read in one website about SEO that it's good the main keywords of your website to be positioned in homepage title also. f.e. Let's say we have website about web-design and our company is named Company Ltd. The title of the home page is "Company Ltd.  - Web design, SEO, etc" We have also another inner page named "Web design | Company Ltd.". So should we leave the first page name only "Company Ltd." and the landing page's name "Web design | Company Ltd." . I don't know if they both have the same keyword in their title they won't compete with each other.

Multiple domains vs single domain vs subdomains ?

I have a client that recently read an article that advised him to break up his website into various URL's that targeted specific products. It was supposed to be a solution to gain footing in an already competitive industry. So rather than company.com with various pages targeting his products, he'd end up having multiple smaller sites: companyClothing.com companyShoes.com Etc. The article stated that by structuring your website this way, you were more likely to gain ranking in Google by targeting these niche markets. I wanted to know if this article was based on any facts. Are there any benefits to creating a new website that targets a specific niche market versus as a section of pages on a main website? I then began looking into structuring each of these product areas into subdomains, but the data out there is not definitive as to how subdomains are viewed by Google and other search engines - more specifically how subdomains benefit (or not!) the primary domain. So, in general, when a business targets many products and services that cover a wide range - what is the best way to structure the delivery of this info: multiple domains, single domain with folders/categories, or subdomains?  If single domain with folders/categories are not an option, how do subdomains stack up? Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions!

301 redirects from several sub-pages to one sub-page

Hi! I have 14 sub-pages i deleted earlier today. But ofcourse Google can still find them, and gives everyone that gives them a go a 404 error. I have come to the understading that this wil hurt the rest of my site, at least as long as Google have them indexed. These sub-pages lies in 3 different folders, and i want to redirect them to a sub-page in a folder number 4. I have already an htaccess file, but i just simply cant get it to work! It is the same file as i use for redirecting trafic from mydomain.no to www.mydomain.no, and i have tried every kind of variation i can think of with the sub-pages. Has anyone perhaps had the same problem before, or for any other reason has the solution, and can help me with how to compose the htaccess file? 🙂 You have to excuse me if i'm using the wrong terms, missing something i should have seen under water while wearing a blindfold, or i am misspelling anything. I am neither very experienced with anything surrounding seo or anything else that has with internet to do, nor am i from an englishspeaking country. Hope someone here can light up my path 🙂 Thats at least something you can say in norwegian...
