Locating Guest Blogging Niches

Hey Folks, Does anybody have advice on tools I could use to locate blogs on specific topics? My plan is to approach the webmasters and offer guest blogging services. I know I could just do a google search for something like "KEYWORD blogs" but I thought I'd see if there is anything more sophisticated out there. Thanks, Rich

Thanks for the mention. I just want to note that we at MyBlogGuest are undergoing a quality-control stage right now: We are trying to drag users FROM link dropping while connecting them to niche community-bloggers, so it's a good time to join!

Gents, thank you so much for the responses. There's a lot to go on here! @Tim - great tips, clever use of queries. I'll try that this afternoon. @David - Clever! Would not have thought of that. @Sebastian - This does sound like hard work, but with great payoffs. I actually have similar relationships in a different niche so I can vouch this approach in that developing the relationship has huge payoffs down the road. Carte Blanche. Totally thrilled with this advice. Thank you again. Rich

It definitely takes more time, and can be hard to setup initially, but in the end it'll make life easier. Outreach to bloggers can be really tough. With this method, you've got a foot in the door before you ask for something. It's also great for general social development - who better to engage with than the people who have the audience!

Great point - This is alot harder but more worth while in the long run as you can get better sites to blog for.

Hi Rich Tom's method is good, but I find that a lot of opportunities arrise from smart interactions and engagement with bloggers on social media channels. I always find that you're more likely to be allowed to do a guest post for a blog once you've built a relationship first. It's a good idea to research blogs you want to reach out to and then engage with them without asking for anything first. Then, once you/ your brand is on good terms, float the question. This is also a powerful way to drive blog publicity in a more general way, without even needing to provide a guest post.

The above method is great - One of the best ways is to find someone in the niche doing guest blogging and look at backlinks and search the author bio and reverse image search the avatar to find opportunities. But be careful not to guest blog on free for all and bad sites.

Hi Rich You could try some search operator queries, try some of these out: Keyword + intitle:“write for us”
 Keyword + intitle:“contribute to”
 Keyword + intitle:“submit” + inurl:blog
 inpostauthor:guest + keyword
 inpostauthor:”guest blog” + keyword
 inpostauthor:”guest post” + keyword
inurl:- “write for us” OR “write for me” + keyword
“become a contributor” OR “contribute to this site” + keyword
 “Guest Article” + keyword
 “Become guest writer” keyword
 “Become guest blogger” keyword
“submit a Blog Post” + keyword

My keywords have low search volume - is it still worth starting a blog?
I'm thinking of starting a new blog, but when I did my keyword research I found that my keywords all have low search volume (under 100 searches per month, with the occasional keyword having 480 searches a month). Is this a deal breaker? Any recommendations would be great - thanks everyone! Content Development | | Trevorneo1

How Are You Handling Blog Posts/Author Pages when Employees Leave the Company?
What do you believe to be the best approach in handling blog content for employees once they have left the company? We don’t want to remove the blog posts so they need to stay, but then there are the author pages. This gets tricky because the CMS ties the blog post to the author. One approach might be to change the author’s name to the Company’s name to get around author pages for people no longer with the company. It’s kind of tricky because the blog posts won’t have the same credibility if they don’t have a person’s name/photo associated with the post. We could leave the blogger’s page and list him as a “Contributing Author” once he’s left the company. Thoughts? Content Development | | RosemaryB0

Wordpress Blog Pages, Duplicate Title Tag
Anyone have any experience in fixing the duplicate Title tag on a Wordpress blog multiple pages Basically the title tag remains the same on the pages /Blog/ /Blog/Page/2/ /Blog/Page/3/ My good friend Yoast Plugin doesn't seem to of resolved this (Unless i have missed something?) I don't really see this to be effecting anything and wouldn't of through it would either, but it would be nice to not see the notification within Moz site crawls and campaigns etc, its more of a cosmetic problem Any solutions ? How many categories should you have within a blog / Wordpress Site for SEO?
Hi Guys I am just wondering whether or not for SEO purposes it is better to have a small number of categories for your blog posts to fit into as opposed to numerous ones. The reason I ask is that I have one site which is fairly new to the search engines - 8 months old which has 7 general categories within the blog for instance "rail contractors", "railway construction" "airport construction" etc I have another site which is 10 years old which has built up 25 different types of categories for instance brand design, brand development, brand management (i guess you could put all these under 1 category "branding"? We've been writing lots of press for both sites... yet the younger site is getting more coverage on Google page 1. Would this be because the blogs / press are more concentrated under a specific category as opposed to being spread thinly throughout the site? Any help would be appreciated. 2,500 Word blog post? What's your advice?
Most of my blog posts end up being 400-600 words, sometimes more, sometimes less. I have written one that is 2,500 words this time. If it were you, would you make one huge post, or split it into two or three? Or would you say it wholly depends on my site and the type of content? As far as link bait goes, one page is better . . . I guess. But would anyone ever read a 2,500 word blog post, even it it's about a subject he/she is interested in? Additionally, what's better for SEO? Just wants some second opinions. Thanks! Should I Have No Index, No Follow On Blog Category & Tag Pages?
At some point in the past I read or was told that No Index, No Follow tags on category and tag pages were a good thing on a standard WordPress blog in order to prevent duplicate content issues.
