Business Name is Meta Description
-
I would like to know what your opinion would be regarding the business name displayed in the meta description. Would you write your business name as:
Business Name or BusinessName
(no space with Trademark)
I used MOZ example from here (Meta Descriptions Best Practice) and inserted the different business names.
Welcome to Business Name in San Diego, California - the nation's largest urban cultural park. Home of 15 major museums, renowned performing arts venues...

I'm not sure which would be best for Google and other search engines.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Swendt,
Personally I would stick to what fits your overall branding strategy best. this means I wouldn't change anything about how your business name is displayed just because it's in the meta description. A few things I would consider when making this decision:
1. Is your business name merged or separated in your logo?
2. If your a existing brand, do people search for your brandname merged or separated? This gives you more insight in your customers perspective. (you can check this through Google Keyword Planner in Adwords)
3. If your business name tells potential customers something about what you do I would definitly consider readability aswell. If your business name contains two worlds I would, in most cases, separate them.
Also, I'm not a huge fan of TM aswell, but I'm from Europe so I'm not sure if it's more common in other parts of the world.
Good Luck!

Hi Swendt,
I presume you know that the meta description is not a ranking factor in Google but indirectly yes because meta description is mainly used to increase CTR. If CTR would improve ranking will also improve.
Now coming to your question
If your business name is a single word like Microsoft then I will go to second option with first alphabet in capital & if your business name is two word keyword like 'Wall Street' I will go for first option.
I hope it helps you.
Thanks

I'd go with Business Name, because it's more likely to be searched. Searchers like to see content that matches their exact query.
Also, personally I hate when people use copyright / trademark annotation in copy when they don't have to. Others may disagree, that's just me!

Use of '&' in meta title
Hi, I know that use of '&' would be helpful to save space and also add more keyword variation to the title tag. But just want to make sure if it matters if I use '&' in most of my title tags? And also is it common to use more than & in one title? Would the following title be different in Google's perspective regardless of the title length? I am thinking they are all targeting the keywords 'fruit cake' and 'fruit bread', but the first one is the best. buy fruit cake & bread buy fruit cake & fruit bread buy fruit cake and fruit bread Thanks in advance.

[HELP!] File Name and ALT Tags
Hi, please answer my questions: 1. Is it okay to use the same keyword on both file name and alt tags when inserting an image? Example: File Name: buy-lego-online.jpg ALT tag: buy-lego-online Will it trigger Google Panda? Will I be penalized for that? Or the file name and alt tags should be different from each other? Because when inserting an image on Wordpress, the alt tags are always the same as the file name by default. 2. For example, I have 2 images in a page (same topic/niche) and I will put "cheap-lego-for-kids" and "best-lego-for-sale" as alt tags. Considering that I repeat the word "lego", is it considered keyword stuffing? Will I be penalized for that? Thanks in advance!

Schema description wordcount guidelines ?
Hi is there a wordcount guideline for the description field in Ravens schema creator ? according to their page on event schema an excerpt from the page will show up as a short description but then their tool has a field for adding a description! I was just adding some edited copy from the page into this but if it already pulls in an excerpt is there any need ? I take it its a good idea for better control of what's displayed in rich snippet, if so what's suggested wordcount limit ? cheers dan

How many words for product description
Hi, I've read articles on the MOZ blog, which stress the point for unique product descriptions. I think this was even mentioned in one White Board Friday. Now I am in the process of writing them. How many words should they have at least in your opinion? Best, Robin

Post Title - Use the blog's name or not?
In the tile of my post, shoudl I used my blog's name in it at the end or emit the blog name. EX: title of post with keywords | name of blog OR EX: title of post with keywords The site's name is 3 words long, so I'm worrying that those extra words are diluting the keywords in the post's name that I'm trying to target.
