      Howdy there!   Two schema related questions here

      1. Schema markup for local directory

      We have a page that lists multiple location information on a single page as a directory type listing.  Each listing has a link to another page that contains more in depth information about that location.

      We have seen markups using Schema Local Business markup for each location listed on the directory page.  Examples:

      • http://www.yellowpages.com/metairie-la/gold-buyers
      • http://yellowpages.superpages.com/listings.jsp?CS=L&MCBP=true&C=plumber%2C+dallas+tx

      Both of these validate using the Google testing tool, but what is strange is that the yellowpages.com example puts the URL to the profile page for a given location as the "name" in the schema for the local business, superpages.com uses the actual name of the location.  Other sites such as Yelp etc have no markup for a location at all on a directory type page.

      We want to stay with schema and leaning towards the superpages option.  Any opinions on the best route to go with this?

      1. Schema markup for logo and social profiles vs website name.

      If you read the article for schema markup for your logo and social profiles, it recommends/shows using the @type of Organization in the schema markup

      https://developers.google.com/structured-data/customize/social-profiles

      If you then click down the left column on that page to "Show your name in search results" it recommends/shows using the @type of WebSite in the schema markup.

      https://developers.google.com/structured-data/site-name

      We want to have the markup for the logo, social profiles and website name.  Do we just need to repeat the schema for the @website name in addition to what we have for @organization (two sets of markup?).  Our concern is that in both we are referencing the same home page and in one case on the page we are saying we are an organization and in another a website.  Does this matter?  Will Google be ok with the logo and social profile markup if we use the @website designation?

        Makes sense and the examples from your site were very helpful.  We realized that we needed to add G+ and Linked in to our "sameAs" list as well.

          Hello Heahea,

          1. I would agree that you should go with the Superpages option: Name = Name of the Location

          2. I would go with Organization Schema Type using JSON-LD script, as outlined here:

          https://developers.google.com/structured-data/customize/social-profiles

          I wouldn't have two Schema Types on that page. Use Organization and provide the URL using the URL property as defined here:

          https://schema.org/Organization

            Best practices around translating quotes for international sites?

            I'm working on a site that has different versions of the same page in multiple languages (e.g., English, Spanish, French). Currently, they feature customer testimonial quotes on some pages and the quotes are in English, even if the rest of the page is in another language. I'm curious to know what are best practices around how to treat client quotes on localized languages pages. A few approaches that we're contemplating: 1. Leave the quote in English and don't translate (because the customer quoted doesn't speak the localized language). 2. Leave the on-page quote in English, but provide a "translate" option for the user to click to see the translated version. The translated text would be hidden until the "translate" button is selected. 3. Go ahead and translate the quote into the local language. Appreciate your thoughts, thank you!

            I'm having an issue correctly formatting a medical specialty for a gastroenterologist. The Google structured data tool is giving me the error of "The property specialty is not recognized by Google for an object of type _Physician". _ Any suggestions on how to correctly update the schema code for a physician's specialty?             We have shared our company's job postings on several third-party websites, including The Muse, as well as putting the job postings on our own website. Our site and The Muse have about the same schema markup except for these differences: The Muse...
            • Lists Experience Requirements
            • Uses HTML in the description with tags and other markup (our website just has plain text)
            • Has a Name in JobPosting
            • URL is specific to the position (our website's URL just goes to the homepage)
            • Has a logo URL for Organization When you type the exact job posting's title into Google, The Muse posting shows up in Google for Jobs--not our website's duplicate copy. The only way to see our website's job posting is to type in the exact job title plus "site:http://www.oursite.com". What is a good approach for getting our website's posting to be the priority in Google for Jobs? Do we need to remove postings from third-party sites? Structure them differently? Do organic factors affect which version of the job posting is shown, and if so, can I assume that our site will face challenges outranking a big third-party site?

            How can i optimize my pages for local areas if we are not in that area?

So I watched a video about Matt Cutts he talks about creating multiple web pages just for one keywords is an absolutely no go.  So I was wondering we serve a clients in NZ Australia and USA, If we target phrase like Psychic Readings California, Psychic Readings San Diego etc (USA) Psychic Readings Melbourne, Psychic Readings Sydney (AU) Psychic Readings Auckland, Psychic Readings Wellington (NZ) What is the best practice or right way to go about structuring my pages to do this without going against googles guidelines.             Are there any suggestions when you completly redesign your web page keeping the same domain but change the host? I want it to go smoothly and want to avoid the rankings we already have including sub pages.

            I am currently having our website completely redone by a design company.  Are there any suggestions on this process as to not lose the rankings we currently have for our site?  The domain will remain the same however we are planning on changing our host.  We also have a good amount of sub domains that the web company will not be changing for us.

            Rebranding a Website to a new Domain Name

            Hi All, I'm looking to rebrand my current website to a new domain name.
            In short the current website has out grown it's potential. The domain name is not memorable nor is it attracting a wider audience.
            I will create my new website and 301 redirect the old website to the new, hence pass SEO value. Google Places
            Having spoken to Google they tell me that I can simply change the URL in Google Places to the new URL. Articles on my current website
            I have a number of rich content articles on my current website, can I simply create my new website and copy & paste these previously written articles? Google+, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
            What should I do for accounts associated with the current website? Any other useful information would be much appreciated. Regards Mark

            Yoast Local SEO Reviews/Would it work for me?

            Hi everyone, I'm looking for some feedback on Yoast Local SEO, and if you think it'd work for our site. www.kempruge.com. Our site is a wordpress site, and there's nothing about it, off the top of my head, that makes me think it wouldn't work, but I've been wrong before. We do use All-In-One SEO, not the Yoast plugin, so I'm not sure if that's compatible.or would cause a problem? (The reason we use All-In-One and not Yoast is because that's what we had when I got here, and I'm worried what would happen if we switched). Also, we have three offices, and I need to be able to do local seo for all three. I know Yoast says it supports multiple offices, but I'd feel more comfortable if someone on here let me know from his/her experience that it did. Anything else you want to add about Yoast Local, I'm all ears! Thanks, Ruben
