Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. The blog shows up separately on Google Analytics, which makes me think site.com/blog is better if for no other reason, it would give our domain greater traffic.
Not sure if this matters, but some site info:
- our site is a sharing economy tool for renting your stuff
- we are running the blog on Wordpress
- blog traffic is about 5% of total traffic

In my opinion, if you run an E-Commerce site or a site that is hard to build links to, I would stay away from a subdomain.
For example, product pages on E-Commerce sites are especially difficult to build links to. If you look at the product page link profile on sites like Amazon, you will find almost no links pointing to those pages. The reason they usually rank #1 in the SERPs is because of their DA. This is where blogs come into play. If you have a sound content marketing strategy that is bringing in links to your blog posts, these posts will pass link juice to your root domain and improve your overall rankings.
If you are using site.com/blog rather than blog.site.com it might help your SEO by passing more link juice and improving your root domain, but it certainly won't hurt it. There is a possibility it might help if you switch, so I would opt for that.

Subdomains can be seen as a seperate site altogether from the main domain. I would recommend keeping the blog on a directory within the main site.

I have a blog post that has been generating more than 75% of my website's traffic month over month.-averaging about 1000 views a month. Awesome that so many people are finding and benefiting from this post, however it is really skewing my traffic. Hi There, I have my main site : example.com and a related blog https://blog.example.com/ My management does not believe frequent content posting on the example.com My Queries 1- Will it help boost ranking of **example.com **if we share frequent content on our blog https://blog.example.com/? Onsite Blogging Vs Guest Blogging
Hey all! I have a limited amount of time allocated to writing instructional blog posts for my company. When I complete an article I can do whatever I want with it: pitch it as a guest post on an industry blog, or post it on my company's onsite blog. I know there's not a magical solution regarding the percentage of time one should devote to guest blogging v. focusing on the company blog, but I figured I'd throw the conundrum out to the Mozzers anyway. In your opinion, how many of your writing resources should be devoted to guest posts, and how many should be devoted to maintaining the onsite blog? What if our onsite blog isn't currently receiving a lot of traffic? Thanks! Meg

Hello, For both ecommerce and sites that sell services, I've seen a lot of people recommending a blog for SEO. Should this blog be inside or separate from the main website for the most results? Index.html vs. default.html
Hi, I have a website that is about 7 years old. I had been using index.html as the home page. When I redesigned my site about 3 months ago I changed it to default.html. The old index.html page was still on my server. I just realized my mistake. All of my links to the home page lead to the new default.html. However, people are still landing on the old index.html. I have change the old index.html to the new design but that means i have 2 "home" pages out there. Should i delete one? Should I leave them both there but use the canonical tag for one so it is not considered duplicate content? What is best for my rankings?
