Measuring the size of a competitors website?

I think our website is too big, far too many indexed pages. I'd like to do some research on how big our competitors' websites are (how many indexed pages). Is there a way to do this?

Xenu's Link Sleuth is free so you may want to check that out (not sure just now whether there are any limits with regard to website size) but I also recommend Screaming Frog - it's money well-spent, such a feature rich tool!

I highly recommend buying the license for Screaming Frog, at $100/year, you won't find a more valuable SEO tool for the money. You won't find a free (and trustworthy) that will crawl a site that large.

I tried that but I only have the free version so we're capped at 500 URLs. Also, the site:search provided 50,000 results, but I know we don't have that many pages. Are there any other tools?

Hi,
Do a site: search on Google itself - like "site:google.com" - to return pages of SERPs containing the pages from your competitors site which Google has indexed.
I would also suggest you use screaming frog tool you will get more accurate value here.

Any SEO benefits of adding a Glossary to our website?
Hi all, I manage a website for a software company. Many terms can be quite tricky so it would be nice to add a Glossary page. Other than that, I have 2 questions: 1. What would be the SEO benefits? 2. How would you suggest to implement this glossary so we can get as much SEO benefit as possible (for example how would we link, where would we place the glossary in the terms of the sitemap, etc.). Websites being hacked & duplicated, what should we do?
Hi, please help! Our website was hacked and being totally duplicated. They even injected codes to intercept our orders. Although the codes issue had been solved, still there're two mirror sites out there. When search for some of our key words, they even have good ranks. Sitemap for dynamic website with over 10,000 pages
If I have a website with thousands of products, is it a good idea to create a sitemap for this website for the search engines where you show maybe 250 products on a page so it makes it easy for the search engine to find the part and also puts that part closer to the home page? Seems like google likes pages that are the closest to the home page (less clicks the better)

Outranking a competitor when their domain name is the keyword
Hi I'd just like to ask the opinion of my fellow members here : We are currently ranking second for a very important keyword and would obviously like the top spot on the SERP - the site that is ranking first has the domain name as the keyword phrase(along with a good amount of quality links from a variety of domains) - now I know it is possible to outrank them since I do remember reading about this in one of Rands posts(I think it was the whole white hat black hat one he posted recently) - bascially we have more domain authority, slightly less links but from double the amount of root domains and a higher page authority too! Does having the keyword as your domain make THAT much of a difference when we are(imo) quite close in terms of great content and link profiles(and all the onpage factors) ? Thanks!
