Hamburger Menu on Desktop Version - Affect SEO?

Hi There
We are working with developers of a site redesign of an existing site.
They are keen on a hamburger menu on the desktop, as well as mobile. Can I confirm if this will have any implications for the SEO rankings?

It shouldn't have any effect on SEO but it may cause a usability issue, if people can't find what they want some search engines can detect that could have an indirect effect on SEO

Remember to focus on user experiences your not designing the website for yourself but rather for your customers.

It won't have any direct effects on your SEO (mobile is more than 50% of web traffic nowadays, and responsive designs use hamburger menus). Google is also capable of reading anchor texts in your collapsed hamburger menus, so no worries.
However, from a UX point of view, I do think users appreciate having a visible menu on desktop to find the options they are looking for, so maybe consider that you will have less internal navigation in desktop. Hope this helps!

Given that most desktop navigations are already based on hover states or otherwise hidden, I don't see this being any different in terms of direct ranking impact. I suppose the top level menu of a usual desktop navigation is visible, and some tests still show a preference from Google towards visible content.
That said, the indirect impact of users finding the site less usable or intuitive on desktop is probably more significant, both for SEO and other considerations. Google will notice, one way or another, if users don't like using your website, so you should make sure this is tested to your satisfaction.

Who is correct - please help!
I have a website with a lot of product pages - often thousands of pages. As each of these pages is for a specific lease car they are often only fractionally different from other pages. The urls are too long, the H1 is often too long and the Title is often too long for "SEO best practice". And they do create duplication issues according to MOZ. Some people tell me to change them to noindex/nofollow whilst others tell me to leave them as they are as best not to hide from google crawler. Any advice will be gratefully received. How to get rid of bad backlinks
So I noticed my rankings going down and spam score going up. So under my spam score there are over 100 links for different websites but ALL redirect to semalt.com I researched it and it says they hijacked a bunched of backlinks but don't know much more. How can I get rid of all those backlinks? I was told I could use the disavow tool but apparently that can hurt my ranking as well. The semalt.com site has no backlink to me - it looks like the pages that have/had my backlinks, they've redirected to them. Breadcrumbs and multiple parent categories on Shopify site - what's the answer?
Hi Mozzers... I'm working on a Shopify site - it is polyhierarchical with multiple parent categories for each product. Not uncommon with Shopify because of issues with faceted nav on that platform. The problem is that defining ONE breadcrumb trail back to the homepage, it works against UX, as people will be wanting to go back to the previous search results, primarily, to revisit the parent category specific search (this is an ecommerce site with a huge number of products). So heaven knows what to do. I could do: (1) Home / Product to avoid the issue. Not very good for UX though as where is the previous category page (where more than likely a product search was carried out). (2) Home / Specific Previous Search Page - Parent Category / Product (if that is possible without upsetting SEO performance - I don't think it is - but any advice is welcome) (3) or I could define one specific path and also include: Return to Previous Page / Search as a separate clickback link outside of but adjacent to the breadcrumb trail (I think Macy's used to do that): https://baymard.com/blog/ecommerce-breadcrumbs The problem with defining a specific path is it flys in the face of UX in the context of this site! Does really a SSL certificate affect on SEO? How? Why? According to my hosting provider (ganje.host), "https" improves SEO! As I know, It decreases speed. So how does it improve SEO when my speed is slower than before?

Removing navigation menu items/links on homepage
We are redesigning our website after a long stint with an SEO firm who also handled our design/dev. We want to clean up the links on our homepage but don't want to screw up our IA or SEO. We want to delete some navbar menu items and a whole bunch on random links to our evergreen content below the fold. Would we need to reposition those navbar items/content links to our footer or somewhere else on the homepage to maintain our internal linking structure? It would be great if you could take a look at our site and give us any suggestions or advice on the best way to go about this. Thanks!
