I haven't heard of this service, but if you can figure out where any of the indexes grab links, then they're doing that. For Google specifically, they're likely going to post your links on G+. Links posted via G+ see a quicker rate of indexation, and that's something a 3rd party could do without having access to your backend, changing code, or fixing your website.

RE: Why does Google rank a product page rather than a category page?posted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
Usually, the reason is because category pages tend to be light on content and thus, not as indexable. And sometimes category pages are noindex due to this. Google is likely looking at your product page and finding it more relevant, based on content, than the category page for people who are looking for "sleeping bags."

RE: FB:admin tag, Who should it be set to?posted in Social Media
Unfortunately, our site was never set up right after our rebrand to a-moz.groupbuyseo.org so I can't see the data and it's not something I've used before so I cannot give a recommendation on value of data. Just because we're not using it doesn't mean it wouldn't be or couldn't be of value.

And I did some digging into ours at Moz, and the person that it's set to used to work at Moz. So we should probably fix that.

RE: How to improve the Search Lost IS (rank) & Search Impr. share ?posted in Paid Search Marketing
Hi Logan,
We actually encourage people to ask any question related to digital marketing, including PPC, in these forums. If our community cannot provide an answer, we have a great lineup of Moz Associates who are ready to tackle a ton of topics all over digital marketing, including PPC.
Thanks!

RE: Adult Toys Sitesposted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
There is nothing majorly different. The biggest thing is that the adult industry is plagued with spammy techniques so it can be tough to achieve rankings and disheartening when you're doing things legitimately and you see spammers getting rankings and Google doesn't smack them down soon enough. You have to get creative, which is why PornHub is such a great example in the industry.
Best luck!

RE: Adult Toys Sitesposted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
The first thing to do is familiarize yourself with Google's rules and restrictions around adults sites. The second thing to consider is that Amazon is the biggest seller of sex toys. But before you have a panic attack at trying to take on the giant in e-commerce, I'd do a bunch of competitor research and see what they are doing. Adult sites that distinguish themselves do it in ways just like non-adult sites, and largely by being different. PornHub wrote this article on our site about what they did, which was essentially something their competitors weren't doing. Additionally, if you have a retail location, make sure your local game is on.

Many of those tools do very different things. For instance, I believe Raven and Wordstream are the only PPC tools on your list. What is your businesses needs?

RE: Link to hotels on http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/mozcon doesn't workposted in Moz Bar
The information changes to a completely 2015 page are set to go live this week. But, I do happen to have the hotel link: book your 2015 hotel room.

FWIW, Wired recently did a study that showed if you're coming from the UK, it's best to buy your flight 53 days out.

RE: Blog On Subdomain - Do backlinks to the blog posts on Subdomain count as links for main site?posted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
Yes, search engines definitely know that subdomains are hooked to your domain, and there's evidence that search engines will count links toward a subdomain to your domain. However, there's speculation that those links are slightly discounted in the level of authority they pass -- they are a stronger signal to your subdomain -- and it's still best practice for your SEO to put your blog on a subfolder instead of a subdomain.

RE: Ranking fluctuations from week to weekposted in Moz Pro
Looking at your site, I noticed a couple things:
Your site speed is pretty slow. You can use pingdom.com to check your site speed. This is a great study by Jon Colman about site speed and how much it actually affects your site. I noticed that you're running WordPress, and here's some tips on how to speed up your WP site. Google definitely factors in speed, and this could be affecting how the bots reach your site (or don't reach it) and account for the flux week-to-week. You are correct in that it shouldn't be that dramatic of a change week-to-week.
I also noticed that your homepage was a little overly optimized for keywords. As search engines start getting more semantic, you want to optimize more for the user. Definitely don't kill all the keywords, but balance is the key. Read through the copy as a visitor, not just the SEO and industry expert.

RE: Should I Keep adding 301s or use a noindex,follow/canonical or a 404 in this situation?posted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
If the pages are worth the effort of 301'ing them, I wouldn't worry about page speed for them. Besides link authority from those old pages, you should also look for traffic, since 301s are actually more about seamless experience for the people coming to your site.

RE: 301 Redirect to external siteposted in On-Page Optimization
When Moz stopped doing consulting, we put together a list of recommended companies in order to drive that traffic there and then to great consulting companies. This allowed for context for the visitor -- compared to direct redirection where a visitor might think they stumbled into some weird click scam -- and for us to give a link and specific information.

RE: Who is Mozcon for?posted in Industry Events
If you live and die by search marketing than MozCon is the place for you. Our content is intermediate/advanced topics and covers for many different types of markets from small business owners to medium companies and agencies or huge companies. You should be able to walk away with a lot of information directly applicable to your work.
Some people MozCon isn't for:
1. Super beginners -- our audience is intermediate to advanced, and it would probably be over their heads.
2. People who aren't into inbound marketing. If you're not into SEO, social media, content marketing, analytics, or conversion rate optimization, MozCon probably isn't of interest to you.

Everyone's 301 redirect suggestions are correct. However, exact match domains may not be worth grabbing all of them for SEO. There's been lessening returns.
