RE: Max Number of 301 Redirections?
Hi,
There isn't a limit to the amount of 301 redirects you can have on your site. 300-600 redirects might be seen as pretty small to a large ecommerce site that has to redirect 1,000s of urls.
Thanks

RE: Are directories still a valid practice? If so what are some of your favorite and most authoritative directories?
I would say it isn't a valid practice to use for SEO. Some companies will have directories in their link profile, but these could be either from previous practices and they're now disavowed and also from a submission to a directory years ago, which is continually duplicated on new domains. Some people still will use directory submissions for short term gain but they will usually be caught by an algo in the long run.
There are few directories which may be relevant, DMOZ, BOTW and maybe some human edited local and niche directories which are used for actually creating relevant traffic rather just from SEO value, but I would suggest only using these if they use no followed links.
Kind Regards

RE: Sudden drop in Rankings after 301 redirect
Hi,
There have been cases were redirecting a domain that has been affected by an algorithmic penalty to a new domain has affected the new domain negatively.
Removing the 301 could remove the negative affect of the old domain, but any good links you have that point to the old domain will need to be changed to the new domain, so you still benefit from the good work you've done in the past.
You may also want to ensure that all of the links that are not in the disavow file are quality links and natural as there could be some that have slipped the net.

RE: Should we nofollow footer social links?
Hi,
Having these links out to your social profiles can help improve the search for your brand as a whole as your social profiles are more likely to appear on page one for searches of your brand term, rather than some site that you may not want displaying as highly.
I have been working in SEO since 2009 and love the industry, through them many years I have seen many changes. One of my favourite conferences every year is Mozcon
