Is the Authority of Individual Pages Diluted When You Add New Pages?
-
I was wondering if the authority of individual pages is diluted when you add new pages (in Google's view). Suppose your site had 100 pages and you added 100 new pages (without getting any new links). Would the average authority of the original pages significantly decrease and result in a drop in search traffic to the original pages?
Do you worry that adding more pages will hurt pages that were previously published?
-
Authority or No of pages or all other factors are secondary.
What is more important is assessment of our goals.
Why do our website exist?
How rich content we are building? Are we sounding like subject matter expert?
Answers for these questions are more important than one page or many page?
Page rank, Page authority, Domain Authority these all are metrics as far as we are thinking about google ranking.
Ultimately one page or many pages we are building website for human being.
First purpose and then analysis. Reverse is not possible.SAMEER

Charles, I wouldn't be too concerned about this. Assuming you're adding pages with quality content, the value they add to the site should outweigh any dilution effect, if any exists. To be a little safer, though, rather than adding 100 pages to a 100 page site in one go, can you phase them in gradually? That big a jump all at once could conceivably cause a temporary drop of the existing pages, I suppose, although I would expect any drop to be short term, with an overall gain once the new pages are picked up.

I wouldn't worry about adding 100 new pages. Go for it. You also have to think about the opportunity cost of not creating the additional 100 pages. You will probably be missing out on something. With that said, make sure that you are creating high quality pages because it helps your domain overall. And remember this is for the long-term. Whenever I launch a new page, it gets to the 2nd page fast. Within the next 6 months to 1 year it's normally on the 1st page.

Well, with more pages you will have more opportunities to go after different keywords and offer new original content. As long as the content isn't duplicate or spammy, I can't imagine you would be hurt for simply expanding your website. Even if you added a bunch of internal links to your new pages, as long as your pages still look natural it shouldn't be a problem.

Customer Reviews on Product Page / Pagination / Crawl 3 review pages only
Hi experts, I present customer feedback, reviews basically, on my website for the products that are sold. And with this comes the ability to read reviews and obviously with pagination to display the available reviews. Now I want users to be able to flick through and read the reviews to help them satisfy whatever curiosity they have. My only thinking is that the page that contains the reviews, with each click of the pagination will present roughly the same content. The only thing that changes is the title tags which will contain the number in the H1 to display the page number. I'm thinking this could be duplication but i have yet to be notified by Google in my Search console... Should i block crawlers from crawling beyond page 3 of reviews? Thanks

Does a no-indexed parent page impact its child pages?
If I have a page* in WordPress that is set as private and is no-indexed with Yoast, will that negatively affect the visibility of other pages that are set as children of that first page? *The context is that I want to organize some of the pages on a business's WordPress site into silos/directories. For example, if the business was a home remodeling company, it'd be convenient to keep all the pages about bathrooms, kitchens, additions, basements, etc. bundled together under a "services" parent page (/services/kitchens/, /services/bathrooms/, etc.). The thing is that the child pages will all be directly accessible from the menus, so there doesn't need to be anything on the parent /services/ page itself. Another such parent page/directory/category might be used to keep different photo gallery pages together (/galleries/kitchen-photos/, /galleries/bathroom-photos/, etc.). So again, would it be safe for pages like /services/kitchens/ and /galleries/addition-photos/ if the /services/ and /galleries/ pages (but not /galleries/* or anything like that) are no-indexed? Thanks!

How to check if an individual page is indexed by Google?
So my understanding is that you can use site: [page url without http] to check if a page is indexed by Google, is this 100% reliable though? Just recently Ive worked on a few pages that have not shown up when Ive checked them using site: but they do show up when using info: and also show their cached versions, also the rest of the site and pages above it (the url I was checking was quite deep) are indexed just fine. What does this mean? thank you p.s I do not have WMT or GA access for these sites

How to identify orphan pages?
I've read that you can use Screaming Frog to identify orphan pages on your site, but I can't figure out how to do it. Can anyone help? I know that Xenu Link Sleuth works but I'm on a Mac so that's not an option for me. Or are there other ways to identify orphan pages?

Do I need to add canonical link tags to pages that I promote & track w/ UTM tags?
New to SEOmoz, loving it so far. I promote content on my site a lot and am diligent about using UTM tags to track conversions & attribute data properly. I was reading earlier about the use of link rel=canonical in the case of duplicate page content and can't find a conclusive answer whether or not I need to add the canonical tag to these pages. Do I need the canonical tag in this case? If so, can the canonical tag live in the HEAD section of the original / base page itself as well as any other URLs that call that content (that have UTM tags, etc)? Thank you.
