Umbrella company and multiple domains

I'm really sorry for asking this question yet again. I have searched through previous answers but couldn't see something exactly like this I think.
There is a website called example .com. It is a sort of umbrella company for 4 other separate domains within it - 4 separate companies.
The Home page of the "umbrella" company website is example.com. It is just an image with no content except navigation on it to direct to the 4 company websites.
The other pages of website example.com are the 4 separate companies domains. So on the navigation bar there is :
Home page = example.com
company1page = company1domain.com
company2page= company2domain.com etc. etc.
Clicking "home" will take you back to example.com (which is just an image).
How bad or good is this structure for SEO? Would you recommend any changes to help them rank better? The "home" page has no authority or links, and neither do 3 out of the 4 other domains. The 4 companies websites are independent in content (although theme is the same). What's bringing them altogether is under this umbrella website - example.com.

I agree with Peter, I have worked with a company who had several different products that are huge so they used the similar structure. I think in order to give better user experience they should have some text on home page (instead of image only) but i think from the technical SEO perspective there is no big problem with this!

I don't think there are any fundamental issues with the structure for SEO. Many large corporates will have an "umbrella" corporate "group" website with links to their subsidiary sites.
The critical factor for SEO as with any website and its pages is the relevancy of its content based on the many ranking factors discussed in this article: http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/search-ranking-factors

Multiple robots.txt files on server
Hi! I have previously hired a developer to put up my site and noticed afterwards that he did not know much about SEO. This lead me to starting to learn myself and applying some changes step by step. One of the things I am currently doing is inserting sitemap reference in robots.txt file (which was not there before). But just now when I wanted to upload the file via FTP to my server I found multiple ones - in different sizes - and I dont know what to do with them? Can I remove them? I have a GoDaddy website and have multiple homepages
I have GoDaddy website builder and a new website http://ecuadorvisapros.com and I notices through your crawl test that there are 3 home pages http://ecuadorvisapros with a 302 temporary redirect, http://www.ecuadorvisapros.com/ with no redirect and http://www.ecuadorvisapros/home.html. GoDaddy says there is only one home page. Is this going to kill my chances of having a successful website and can this be fixed? Or can it. I actually went with the SEO version thinking it would be better, but it wants to auto change my settings that I worked so hard at with your sites help. Please keep it simple, I am a novice although I have had websites in the past I know more about the what's than the how's of websites. Thanks,

I am thinking of moving my html website to weebly. They offer a 301 redirect for my domain name. Is that ok for SEO?

.ca and. com domains
Hello, currently the main site im working on is a .com, but have the .ca version purchased from register.com. should i have this setup to redirect to the .com site. will google see these as dup content. We have the .ca for our canadian customers but both sites are identical. Thank you

My questions is what to do with old domains we own from a past business. Is it advantages to direct them to the new domain/company or is that going to cause a problem for the new company. They are not in the same industry.

Mobile Domain Setup

How to remove a sub domain from Google Index!
Hello, I have a website having many subdomains having same copy of content i think its harming my SEO for that site since abc and xyz sub domains do have same contents. Thus i require to know i have already deleted required subdomain DNS RECORDS now how to have those pages removed from Google index as well ? The DNS Records no more exists for those subdomains already.
