4XX (Client Error) on Wordpress Wesbite

I've just taken over the management of a website and am getting 4x 4XX (client Error) issues. Example: http://inter-italia.com/en/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword Can anyone give any guidance as how to fix this wordpress? I also see a lot of 'temporary redirects' due to multilingual plugin - is there anything I can do to fix this?

Yep I agree with Dan, unless you really want people to be able to find your lost password page through the search results i'd disallow it as well - actually there is a bunch of stuff you can do to further secure your wp-admin folder should you so choose : http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/11-vital-tips-and-hacks-to-protect-your-wordpress-admin-area/

Hey There I answered similar questions here; http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/community/q/wordpress-redirect-login-401s http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/community/q/wordpress-4xx-errors-from-comment-re-direct But essentially Stuart has the right idea too. In the drop down it's linking to somewhere where users can go if they forgot their password. If you don't want this crawled (which I recommend) by Moz, Google, Bing etc add this to your robots.txt file; Disallow: /wp-login.php?action=lostpassword So that goes under what's in there now.

Ah ok - do you mean that it's showing up in your report of links in Open Site Explorer? If that is the case it is probably because it is linked to from a few pages on your site, including http://inter-italia.com/en/ (under the account drop down it's linked to as 'Forgot Password?') It looks like this might be an issue with your Worpress theme as it should really be linking to http://inter-italia.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword but rather than http://inter-italia.com/en/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword Best, Stuart

Thanks Stuart. That is the admin login page but I'm not sure about the link they mention Example: http://inter-italia.com/en/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword It just shows up as a 404 error - can't see that the page actually exists? Not sure where Moz pulls this info from and if its worth being concerned about.

Hey Stacey, In Wordpress the admin area is normally under the wp-admin folder (unless it's been changed), not sure if it's for the same site but the URL http://inter-italia.com/wp-admin/ seems to go to a WP admin page. Hope that helps! Stuart

Problems preventing Wordpress attachment pages from being indexed and from being seen as duplicate content.
Hi According to a Moz Crawl, it looks like the Wordpress attachment pages from all image uploads are being indexed and seen as duplicate content..or..is it the Yoast sitemap causing it? I see 2 options in SEO Yoast: Redirect attachment URLs to parent post URL. Media...Meta Robots: noindex, follow I set it to (1) initially which didn't resolve the problem. Then I set it to option (2) so that all images won't be indexed but search engines would still associate those images with their relevant posts and pages. However, I understand what both of these options (1) and (2) mean, but because I chose option 2, will that mean all of the images on the website won't stand a chance of being indexed in search engines and Google Images etc? As far as duplicate content goes, search engines can get confused and there are 2 ways for search engines Web Design | | SEOguy1
to reach the correct page content destination. But when eg Google makes the wrong choice a portion of traffic drops off (is lost hence errors) which then leaves the searcher frustrated, and this affects the seo and ranking of the site which worsens with time. My goal here is - I would like all of the web images to be indexed by Google, and for all of the image attachment pages to not be indexed at all (Moz shows the image attachment pages as duplicates and the referring site causing this is the sitemap url which Yoast creates) ; that sitemap url has been submitted to the search engines already and I will resubmit once I can resolve the attachment pages issues.. Please can you advise. Thanks.0

		Redirects (301/302) versus errors (404)
I am not able to convincingly decide between using redirects versus using 404 errors. People are giving varied opinions. Here are my cases 1. Coding errors - we put out a bad link a. Some people are saying redirect to home page; the user at least has something to do PLUS more importantly it does NOT hurt your SEO ranking. b. Counter - the page ain't there. Return 404 2. Product removed - link1 to product 1 was out there. We removed product1; so link1 is also gone. It is either lying in people's bookmarks, OR because of coding errors we left it hanging out at some places on our site. Web Design | | proptiger0

WordPress blog hosted on GoDaddy domain mapping help
We set up a WP blog that's hosted through GoDaddy. For various reasons, we purchased a URL to use to get through the technical build and set up and are trying to map that to a subdomain of our company website. (We can't host it on our own server, unfortunately). My question is: for WP blogs hosted via WP you can buy a domain mapping upgrade and I'm trying to find a similar plugin that could offer the same thing that would apply to our GoDaddy hosting and point to our subdomain (GD apparently doesn't offer the domain mapping). Anyone have any thoughts, please? Web Design | | josh-riley0
