Hi, Need help on how to exclude traffic for a specific mobile device in Google Analytics view. I have been searching and the only information available is excluding IP address of internal traffic. Is there any way to exclude traffic through a mobile MAC address?

Hi Martijn, Thank you. Could you direct me to useful resources/reading material on this? I will need to understand this in depth before I could implement. Really appreciate your time on this.

Hi Khadija, You have to be a bit technical to get what I mean here, but you give the user a specific parameter and based on that you set a cookie or keep on pushing that user to pages with that parameter. Based on the cookie or the parameter you can excluding your tracking code from that user so it doesn't end up in your reports. Martijn.

Hi Martijn, Thanks. The challenge about excluding specific device is that - the client uses an iphone 6S and most of our relevant traffic and few orders have also come from an iphone 6S, hence if I exclude this model, I will also be excluding a lot of relevant traffic. When you say identify the user in a specific way - could you give me some examples. What metrics should I look at, how do I identify this?

Excluding a specific model is going to be pretty hard as that information is coming from information that is aggregated and then defined as a certain mobile device model. What you could do is apply a segment and make sure it's excluding that specific device. Otherwise I would make sure to identify that specific user in another way and make sure it's excluded through a proper filter on view level.

Hi Alick, Thank you. I wouldn't want to exclude an entire mobile model. I actually just want to exclude the client's mobile for GA to be more relevant and not be skewed in time/session and number of sessions due to the client.

Hi, Apart from excluding internal traffic by IP address you can also exclude/include traffic by mobile brand name, mobile model name but not particular mobile device. You can do this by creating custom filter at view level. Thanks

Whatstuffwherebot user agent messing up Google Analytics
Starting yesterday, Aug 26, 2020, I noticed a new bot crawling our site with user agent whatstuffwherebot. Google Analytics is counting these hits as human traffic, completely throwing off my numbers - yesterday, Analytics reported nearly triple my typical number of visitors. As of now, Search Console only shows data through Aug 25 so I don't know if Search Console is also affected. Is anybody else seeing something similar? Does anybody know what the whatstuffwherebot bot is? I don't get any results when I search on Google or Bing. For what it's worth, the traffic is coming from Columbus, OH, running over Amazon AWS via 278 different IP addresses so far. Also, WordFence (my WordPress security plugin) correctly identifies these hits as bot traffic. Reporting & Analytics | | ahirai0

Is there a way to filter all computers on a specific IPv6 network in Google Analytics?
Is there a quick way of filtering the IP addresses for all the computers on a network that's using IPv6? I want to filter out visits to our websites from the devices on our office network, but each computer (and phone and tablet) seems to have a different address. It _looks _like they all start the same way, though. One computer is xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:aaaa:aaaa:aaaa:aaaa, another is xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:bbbb:bbbb:bbbb:bbbb, my phone is xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:cccc:cccc:cccc:cccc, etc. Does this mean that xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx is the address for our network as a whole, and I can just set up a Google Analytics filter for "IP addresses starting with..."? Or would doing that also filter out hits from, like, every visitor within a 20 mile radius of our office? If I need to simply put in the individual addresses for each and every device, I will. I'm just hoping it doesn't come to that. Thanks! Reporting & Analytics | | BrianAlpert780

Google Analytics Goals - Button Tracking
Does anyone know if there is a really easy way to track a button in Google Analytics yourself? It seems that most button click goal setups involve some use of tricky code and I'm wondering if there is a much easier way to do this that will allow us to simply setup and track certain button clicks as goal conversions in Analytics. Your help here is much appreciated! Reporting & Analytics | | Gavo0

No-indexed pages are still showing up as landing pages in Google Analytics
Hello, My website is a local job board. I de-indexed all of the job listing pages on my site (anything that starts with http://www.localwisejobs.com/job/). When I search site:localwisejobs.com/job/, nothing shows up. So I think that means the pages are not being indexed. When I look in Google Analytics at Acquisition > Search Engine Optimization > Landing Pages, none of the job listing pages show up. But when I look at Acquisition > Channels > Organic and then click Landing Page as the primary dimension, the /job pages show up in there. Why am I seeing this discrepency in Organic Landing pages? And why would the /job pages be showing up as landing pages even though they aren't indexed? Reporting & Analytics | | mztobias0

Direct traffic spam on Google Analytics: how can you identify and filter it?
One of my smaller clients noticed a huge jump in direct traffic visits last month. The bounce rate was around 97% so I'm pretty certain that most of the traffic was illegitimate. I know how to filter out spam referrals and organic keywords in Google Analytics. However I'm not sure what to do about direct traffic spam. Are there recommendations for filtering this out? Can I identify spam IP addresses? Reporting & Analytics | | RosemaryB0

How to track what people type on my text boxes on Google Analytics?
Hi there! In our website, we have a few text boxes that users need to use to complete the goal. The boxes aren't search boxes, but it's still important to us to track what people type on it. I'm looking for a way to track the data through the "event" feature in Google Analytics, but it seems that this tracker can only calculate clicks, or video views etc. Does anyone knows how to track do it?
