          Hello everybody!

I'm in doubt with which one is the best:

To have a Twitter profile name with:

          1)the company's name.
Of course it's good for branding, but it's a B2B, industrial market.

          2)a relevant keyword.
Will it bring traffic, considering that is a B2B, that works different.

The question is: does Google gives relevance to username with keyword in it? If yes, have it a great value, or should I use the company name?

          Thanks!  =]

Ah! Keri... a very important point... yes, better to secure your brand name as a handle on social channels...absolutely!

              Agree on the looking spammy.

I would get the company name in any case so that someone else doesn't get the name and make you settle for a lesser name / have them tweet out stuff that's against your brand.

Actually my experience has shown that keywords in the handle actually look spammy and most people tend to not take that account seriously.. Infact I myself had deleted a lot of follows who either had a keyword in their handle or a graphic of some sort. I cleaned my follow list to ensure I was getting tweets from people and not automated systems. I am probably digressing here... sorry....

I agree but just in one case:

you are not a brand and want to transform in a brand. For instance, SeattleSEO is a exact keyword... and you have the site called SeattleSEO and your "brand" is SeattleSEO. In order to transform SeattleSEO from a simple exact matching keyword to an entity, then the consistence of its use everywhere (social profiles, handles in blogs, forum...) will help.

But for pure SEO purposes... I don't think it really matters

In answer to 'will it bring traffic' I'm not so sure...not done any testing, but (as far as I can recall) I've never seen twitter results in serps where the twitter handle corresponds to the keyword I'm searching for.

All things being equal, I'd be inclined to go for brand name, social media is about engagement and people like to know who they're talking to.

Having said that, if you can get a nice keyword name that doesn't feel 'forced' then that would be good. For example, in the pr industry there's @ThePRCoach which is nice and doesn't feel like someone is squeezing a keyword unnaturally into the name (as it happens his site is called ThePRCoach too, but hopefully you get my meaning!)

if you can get both twitter accounts, why not take them both and sit on the keyword twitter. It may be valuable in the future for industry leadership, etc.  But for marketing and branding definitely go with your company name

I agree with Gianluca.  I think having a keyword-rich Twitter handle has extremely limited value, whereas conversely, a Twitter handle with your brand can have a ton of upside.

Don't take me as good example (I'm not).... in fact I use none of above (gfiorelli1)... but you know, when you have a nick attached to you since the BBS era.

Seriously talking... brand name is always better for the twitter handle of a company. For the "professional" twitter handle of an employer of the company, the best is Name-Brand.

Twitter Analytics: Follower Count & Reporting Inconsistencies

Our number of followers on Twitter has suddenly dropped (yet not dropped) in a really weird way. Twitter Analytics shows follower counts in two places: Monthly increases in followers, and then also in the Audience Insights tab, where you can see three months of follower counts mapped in a chart. Month-to-month, the total number of followers continues to rise. What’s inconsistent, however, is the total number of aggregate followers shown in the cart. Twitter just dropped our to total count of followers by about 600. But it’s not like we just suddenly lost 600 followers last month (in fact we gained far more than that), but rather that Twitter seems to have adjusted the aggregate numbers across the board retroactively for all months. So while month-to-month continues to show gains, overall, we still went down. The only way we would have even noticed this, by the way, is because we have a record of the OLD total follower count that Twitter had previously displayed as recently as last month. So confusing. We’re trying to figure out what happened, and the only thing that seems to make sense is that Twitter may have done a huge spam account purge, and instead of making it look like we suddenly lost a lot of followers, they just updated the aggregate total # of followers across all time……? [For the record, we do not buy followers, but we don’t always do the best job at blocking spam followers when the do follow us either.] Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. 🙂

Facebook Name Change and Effect on SEO

Hey Mozzers! Trying this one again as my timing was probably pretty bad with Easter. Working with a company who has about 20K followers on Facebook and about 500 backlinks to their current facebook page. They want to change the name of the page to better reflect the business. I need to advise on this but I'm not sure of and how it will effect them. Any one had any experience in this area?

Social Media Approaches for a Pest Control Company

Hi Everyone, I am working with a pest control company that is looking to branch out into social media.  Their primary goal is to connect with their existing customers to improve retention.  The secondary goal is to potentially pick up new clients. With that said, I wanted to see if you all had some ideas on things that they could tweet/facebook about on a regular basis?  Posting about bugs on a daily basis gets pretty boring. I know Rand has been talking a lot lately about not being so narrow, so maybe we should talk more about general home improvement?  Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks! EDIT: I should clarify that this is a company that has maintenance plans.  You don't call them only when you have a problem. You sign up with them, and they treat your property every 3 months, or whenever you call.  Only about 2% of their customer base is one-off phone calls to fix 1 problem and never come back again. I don't think their existing customer base will have any issues with Liking them on Facebook or following them on Twitter. The initial plan is to incentivize them to do so, but once we get the like/follow, we want to continually be in front of them with interesting content, contests as Jay suggested, etc.

Youtube SEO: Does your channel name / user name matter?

My predecessor left me a gift of what is arguably the worst kind of Youtube channel name: Our company's name condensed to an acronym with some additional gibberish that may or may not have meant something to her. In short: Our channel name will never be searched for, will never provide any ranking boost. Now our Youtube success has been very marginal so far: 31 subscribers, 7,300 video views. Given that situation, should I seriously consider scrapping my channel and starting  something new with a keyword targeted channel name? Or does channel name matter so little that I should hold on to my 7300 video views?

Tool/Method to find users on Twitter from a CSV file

I'm attempting to find users to follow and receive reciprocal follows for a client on twitter. Through the company's newsletter database, I have a CSV file of somewhere in the range of 20,000 email addresses and names. I've been importing them 250 at a time into an empty Gmail account then connecting that with twitter each time to find some of them. However, a lot of the PEOPLE using the email addresses on the mailing list are not on twitter but their COMPANY is. To find the company, I can obviously drop the name@ part of the email and just search by the domain but this becomes tedious real quick since it has to be one by one and cannot be bulk imported/searched. Are there any tools/ideas out there to more easily find twitter users based on a larger set of keywords and/or domain names?

                            Permanent URLs for Twitter?

Hi everyone - The site I am working on is going to start giving users the option to tweet that they completed an action. It reads, for example, "I just took the first step to (    ) with (site): (shortened link) via (Twitter name)" Here's my question: Should I worry about the fact that the shortened URL (we're possibly going to use Twitter's shortener T.Co, but I'm not dedicated to it) changes each time? Should we instead have a permanent short URL for the homepage (where we are going to direct people who click the link in the tweet)? Thanks!
