Does show/hide element with javascript impact SEO

Hi I am developing an ecommerce site and want to place text on all category and home page. The challenge is that 300 words of text for the pages does not fit into the design appropriately especially on the home page. If I were to use a show/hide element with javascript would this be seen as spam or a trick to the search engines.
I do not think it is spam as it will be actual content for the site and the visitor can view it if they click on the show button.
Would love to hear your thoughts?

Ennovation and Malcolm are right - search engines will see the entire text, as long as the JS is just being used for show/hide (users without JS enabled will see the same thing).
As long as there is an option to show the text (i.e. it's not completely hidden from users), and the text itself isn't keyword-stuffed or spammy, I can't see a reason why search engines would consider it spam.

Google see the text anyway as it is hard coded into the html, the JS is only used on the front end to show the user so they can hide/show the text.

You can make with js a expand link or read more....
That will be ok... Search engines will see the entire text where as users will have to click to see the entire text...

Why are http and https pages showing different domain/page authorities?
My website www.aquatell.com was recently moved to the Shopify platform. We chose to use the http domain, because we didn't want to change too much, too quickly by moving to https. Only our shopping cart is using https protocol. We noticed however, that https versions of our non-cart pages were being indexed, so we created canonical tags to point the https version of a page to the http version. What's got me puzzled though, is when I use open site explorer to look at domain/page authority values, I get different scores for the http vs. https version. And the https version is always better. Example: http://www.aquatell.com DA = 21 and https://www.aquatell.com DA = 27. Can somebody please help me make sense of this? Thanks,

Phone number for SEO
We have had an interesting question from a client. They have asked if removing their phone number from their website would have an affect on their rankings. Our immediate answer was 'No' but it may affect the Brand, Usability and Customer experience by restricting the methods of contact. This then made us think that perhaps then it could have an effect in the long term. This situation is also complicated by the fact that they do not have a Google Local Plus account for operational, sensitivity reasons (they don't want to openly publicise their address) We believe that there shouldn't be any negative affect but thought we would open a discussion. Hi There! Taking on a small project up updating and adding in Schema to a clients site; a previous developer half put in data vocabulary. Google is now showing menus on select searches. Any idea how they are getting this information? I would like to make sure my clients get visibility this way.

Ecommerce On-Site SEO: Keywords in Category Descriptions
Hello, I'm doing on-site SEO for a client's ecommerce site. Are 160 words enough for a category description? I'm using the keywords once at the top of the description, and once at the bottom of the description, with the ones at the bottom reworded so that they are the keywords with a different word order. I used to put the keywords in 3 times but it just feels like stuffing. Is twice, worded differently the second time, enough for a category description? Thanks.

Disclaimer in footer - is it affecting my SEO?
For legal reasons I am required to include a 266 word disclaimer in the footer of every page of my credit card comparison site creditcards.com.au. My question is in 2 parts: is this indexable content likely to be hurting my SEO? if so, what is the best way to include the text in the footer but prevent search engines from indexing it? Thanks.
