Is it better to use geo-targeted keywords or add the locations as separate keywords?

For example...
state keyword (nyc real estate)
or
keyword, state (nyc, real estate) = 2 keywords

Here is my issue with that scenario;
1. If I have 3 states and 30 towns and each has a geo targeted page on my site I will run into duplicate content issues
2. I will not get the link relevance from google to the main keyword "real estate" (in this scenario).
So if I am looking to target the keyword "real estate" in general but just geo target the website I would be shooting myself in the foot here.
The thing that I rely on is google using IPs to return relevant results to the user. So if someone types in "real estate" and they live in NYC, they will get NYC results, not just in the maps section either but in the SERPs as well. So seeing that google is already geo targeting via the IP address, and let's say I want to do NYC and LA at the same time, I would want to target "real estate" in general and just geo target inbound linking pages back to the root domain. This way it makes it where I don't have to have so many pages in my site and also I am optimized for the keyword "real estate" and "location" separately, and in turn I keep the integrity of my websites national or time zone campaign approach for the keyword "real estate." Would this not be a good approach?
Also the other part of that, does google pick up a location in a description along with the keyword and correlate them enough to give it relevance.
I am just playing devils advocate here because I am not sure what the right answer is.
***So the main thing is to not waste resources optimizing "nyc real estate" when I can be optimizing "real estate" with the location attached somewhere else and let google play with the combinations (nyc real estate, real estate nyc, etc.).

You can use keywords with your state and city, now days local SEO becomes more popular in SEO business. If you want to promote your business locally then it is best way to add city or state name into keywords. Do local Listing in your target country. If you want add multiple city then you have to create landing pages for that keywords.

Community inside the domain or in a separate domain
Hi there, I work for an ecommerce company as an online marketing consultant. They make kitchenware, microware and so on. The are reviewing their overall strategy and as such they want to build up a community. Ideally, they would want to have the community in a separate domain. This domain wouldn't have the logo of the brand. This community wouldn't promote the brand itself. The brand would post content occassionally and link the store domain. The reasoning of this approach is to not interfere in the way of the community users and also the fact that the branded traffic acquired doesn't end up buying at the store I like this approach but I am concerned because the brand is not that big to have two domains separated and lose all the authority associated with one strong domain. I would definitely have everything under the same domain, store and community, otherwise we would have to acquire traffic for two domains. 1. What do you think of both scenarios, one domain versus two? Which one is better? 2. Do you know any examples of ecommerce companies with successful communities within the store domain? Subpage ranking for homepage keyword
Hi all, May seem like a simple scenario and I might be missing something, but my subpage seems to be ranking for my main homepage keyword. The subpage PR is 28 and my domain authority is 17, how can I get my main home page to rank instead of the sub page (product page)? I want to stay away from exact match anchor text links, any suggestions?

Meta Keywords Good or Bad
Hi All, I've been reading more about the meta keyword tag and why it may not be a good idea to include them on pages and am looking for thoughts/feedback on this idea. If you have employed this tactic, can you give me some insight into any results you saw. If you decided to not employ this tactic, why did you choose not to? Do you add 404 page into robot file or just add no index tag?
Hi, got different opinion on this so i wanted to double check with your comment is. We've got /404.html page and I was wondering if you would add this page to robot text so it wouldn't be indexed or would you just add no index tag? What would be the best approach? Thanks!

GeoIP - Redirect all but target country

Paging. is it better to use noindex, follow
Is it better to use the robots meta noindex, follow tag for paging, (page 2, page 3) of Category Pages which lists items within each category or just let Google index these pages Before Panda I was not using noindex because I figured if page 2 is in Google's index then the items on page 2 are more likely to be in Google's index. Also then each item has an internal link So after I got hit by panda, I'm thinking well page 2 has no unique content only a list of links with a short excerpt from each item which can be found on each items page so it's not unique content, maybe that contributed to Panda penalty. So I place the meta tag noindex, follow on every page 2,3 for each category page. Page 1 of each category page has a short introduction so i hope that it is enough to make it "thick" content (is that a word :-)) My visitors don't want long introductions, it hurts bounce rate and time on site. Now I'm wondering if that is common practice and if items on page 2 are less likely to be indexed since they have no internal links from an indexed page Thanks!

All page files in root? Or to use directories?
We have thousands of pages on our website; news articles, forum topics, download pages... etc - and at present they all reside in the root of the domain /. For example: /aosta-valley-i6816.html

Keyword-Rich Domains - Redirect?
Hi, Mozzers- I have a client that has a bunch of pretty nice keyword-rich domain names. Their traffic and rankings are good. They provide legal services in the Chicago area. I have lots of good content that I could use to start a blog using a domain like keyword,keyword-blog.com. Good idea? Currently I have a resources area on their website but feel like this area could be getting a little bloated and some news-related stuff isn't really appropriate. 2 Questions: Should I use one of the decent domains for a blog and build up the rankings, traffic, and link to the main site? Or is this lots of work for little payout? Both sites would be hosted in the cloud. Some of the domain names are related to their name, others are keyword or geo-targeted. Would it be wise to setup 301 redirects going to their website? Pros/cons? If you need additional info, please PM me for details. Thank you, friends! LHC
