Wordpress Redirect Plugin Vs Manual .htaccess?

Hi everyone,
I need to 301 redirect my old pages to new ones but i am confused between whether to choose plugin for this or i should manually rewrite the code on .htaccess file.
Please give your suggestion and if you think i should use plugin then which one?

You can actually get the best of both worlds using the Redirection plugin Iain mentions, Himanshu. The plugin can be configured so that the redirects you create within it get written to the .htaccess file.
Having the redirects in the .htaccess file is preferred, because the .htaccess is processed faster and with lower load by your server than the redirects within WordPress. This is obviously much more important if you have a large number or redirects to write, as opposed to a dozen or so to deal with a few changed pages.

While I can't recommend which option is best, I can certainly suggest a good Plugin to use. I've used it myself and it works rather well:
wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/It's easy to use and also keeps track of 404 errors.

How do you fix redirect chains and temporary redirects?
Hi, I have a lot of issues popping up with temporary redirects and redirect chains. I'm still confused as to what exactly redirect chains are and I don't know how to find where the "chains" are or how to fix them. I'm having two issues mainly:1. Temporary RedirectsI have around 100 pages on our www.twowayradiosfor.com website that are being flagged as temporary redirects. Personalized Content Vs. Cloaking
Hi Moz Community, I have a question about personalization of content, can we serve personalized content without being penalized for serving different content to robots vs. users? If content starts in the same initial state for all users, including crawlers, is it safe to assume there should be no impact on SEO because personalization will not happen for anyone until there is some interaction? I'm using the Yoast plugin with wordpress and have noticed in my HTML I have duplicate meta data. For example my header starts with

Hi I am optimising a new site that has been built in Wordpress using Pods. The Yoast Wordpress SEO plugin is not recognising any content on the site - has anyone any ideas on how to get around this - does it matter - is it the plugin that is at fault rahter than the set up of the site?

Authorship and Publisher on WordPress
I successfully enabled rel=publisher on our WordPress blog, and as a test I also enabled rel=authorship for a set of blog posts. (Tested both in Google's Rich Snippets Tester.) However, on the individual blog posts the publisher credit disappears. Is there a way to enable both to appear on blog posts?

301 redirect from Blogger
Hello, I have a client with a Wordpress network of blogs, each blog is owned by a different blogger. Many of them were migrated time ago from Blogger. I have seen that the way used to redirect them is a meta refresh, so no authority is being passed. I cannot find any reliable way of making a 301 from Blogger, There are some plugins, but I'm afraid of using them. Any of you have experience with this situation please? I have even thought about placing a global rel canonical before the meta refresh, but I think that here the problem is the meta refresh itself.... Thank you in advance
