          Hi Guys,

I want to get an opinion/advice on this. My client has a site that have all their products (I am working on expanding the product descriptions, benefits and how they differ from each other) listed and I just want to know if I can use the term 'gear oil' for example on multiple pages as one of the keywords. The product range (among others like transmission fluid and anti-freeze) is gear oil (with the different types of gear oils available described) and I can't really change what the product is.

I do have different variations (such as gear lubricant, automotive gear lubricant, car gear oil etc.) but will it do damage if I use the same keyword (like gear oil) on multiple pages (along with another relevant keyword that does not involve the words gear oil)?

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

It's a good idea to include your main keyword in the meta description because when Google does show your custom meta description, the keyword will be bold if it matches the search query.

However, keep in mind that meta descriptions do not help your rankings at all.  Google announced this a while ago.  Despite not helping rankings, meta descriptions are still useful because they may help increase click thru rates on the SERPs

Matt Cutts did a good video on meta descriptions back in November 2013: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4gr88oHb-k

                  Hi,

Thank you so much for replying - this really helped me out a lot!! That video was gold as well!

Just one more question (and apologies if it is a dumb one, but I thought of it after watching the video) - I know that using meta keyword tags are redundant. But in my Meta description, do I rather make use of my relevant keyword, the gear oil keyword or both?

I want to create a meta description that is relevant and gives great info, without being to grabby with the keywords. I also know search engines do sometimes create their own meta description that they feel are more 'relevant'.

                  Thank you again!

First of all, I assume that by "using the keyword" you just simply mean an instance of it on the page somewhere.  If you happen to be referring to the meta keywords tag, that's a whole other topic, but you shouldn't be using that meta tag.

Anyways, there is nothing wrong with using the keyword "gear oil" on multiple pages.  Since there are different types of gear oils available, it's simply unavoidable, and Google understands this.  Imagine you have a site about food, and on that site you have a lot of pages about pizzas.  Pepperoni pizza, sausage pizza, sardine pizza, Hawaiian pizza, etc.  In this scenario, it would be as if you're posting the same question as you did, but asking if it's okay that you used the keyword "pizza" on multiple pages.  Of course that's okay 🙂

The whiteboard Friday from a couple days ago actually discussed almost exactly what you're asking.  You should definitely check it out: http://a-moz.groupbuyseo.org/blog/keyword-targeting-density-and-cannibalization-whiteboard-friday

Inconsistent Keyword Search Volume & Difficulty Across Tools (e.g., Moz, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, Semrush)

                      keyword difficulty keyword explorer

Hi there, Moz Community! I'm reaching out for some guidance on keyword research discrepancies. I'm currently targeting the keyword "sui gas bill" for my blog, sngplbill, which focuses on information related to Sui gas bills. I've used several keyword research tools, including Moz, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, and Semrush, and each platform provides different search volume and keyword difficulty scores: Moz: No search volume data, Keyword Difficulty (KD) 24
Google Keyword Planner: Search volume 100k-1M, Difficulty (Low)
Semrush: Search volume 90k, KD 31
                      Ahrefs: KD 1 (Very Easy)
These varying results are causing some confusion. Ideally, I'd like to understand which platform offers the most reliable data for search volume and keyword difficulty. Here are some additional details that might be helpful: My target location: Pakistan My Questions: What factors might contribute to these discrepancies in keyword data across different tools?
Considering my niche (Sui gas bill information in Pakistan), which platform would you recommend for the most accurate search volume and keyword difficulty estimates?
Are there any additional factors to consider beyond search volume and keyword difficulty when selecting keywords for content strategy?
Any insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

                      Keywords with and without diacritics

Hi, I am trying to make my site to appear in the search results even the searched term have or have not been wrote with diacritics for example: "șarpe" or "sarpe". The language is Romanian. If I seach for "Românul cu maşină, marea victimă" or "Romanul cu masina, marea victima" the first result for both searches is the same. I don't see anything special on their html code and I am wondering how do they did it. Regards, Bogdan

                      Keywords + Country?

Hey guys, Let's say that I'm doing on-site SEO for a website that sells football shirts. This website targets 5 different countries. We only have a .com domain and no other country specific domains will be added at this point. When I choose the keywords, do I opt for product name + country or only product name? football shirts france or football shirts? Some info: Countries have been added in the title of the pages. Countries appear in the footer. Thank You.

                      Bulk keyword competition tool?

The SEOmoz Keyword Difficulty tool is great, but the 5 keyword limit is too small. I need a tool that will allow checking the organic competition level of 100's of keywords (to help in selecting blog topics). Anyone know of such a tool?

How To Optimize Similar Product Pages

I found some really good resources on here regarding how to optimize for product pages, however I have one question. We carry about 20 different products lines. EX: Cold Saws, Band Saws, Press Brakes etc. For the cold saws product line we have Manual Cold Saws and Automatic Cold Saws. Same for Band Saws. Since the products are very similar and people are technically only search for manual cold saws, manual coldsaws, manual cold saw machines etc. Each product line has between 10 and 50 machines. How do we optimize each product page for 1 keyword phrase.? Can I have about 5 manual cold saw pages target the same keyword phrase or does each page have to be targeting completely different key phrases?  like, manual coldsaws, manual cold saws, affordable manual coldsaws, etc.

How do you limit the number of keywords that will be researched

I'm working with a client who has a website, but doesn't really have a clearly defined idea of who their key audience is nor do they know what keyword phrases they would like to rank for. I know that I can generate a starting list by reviewing their site, but I want to set some parameters on it so I can provide an accurate estimate. I'm looking for suggestions on how to do this.
