Precise or longer title for service page?

i am a little confused as to how should i create my META TITLE and on page h1 title
for a service page...Say that page offers "web marketing" service... i know or think i know that precise title ranks higher
on the search results but its less appealingMeta title example:
web marketing | company nameOn page title:
Web marketingNow, the more compelling title would be of-course longer but less focused 1. Do you think i can test it without hurting my positions permanently?
i have query (i see the stats on Google webmaster tools) that
i get 20,000 views monthly but only 1% clicks...2. how would you build a title for such a page (meta and onpage)? Would really appreciate your professional view Best regards, Sagive SEO.

 thanks for your great advices.

Yee... thanks for the suggestion. i am afraid that just optimizing a page wont get it to the top 10 - that page has about 20-30k links, it exists a while and was updated a lot. it was in the top 3 and dropped to 7 - even when it was in the top 3 it got 1% click... Thats why i think that percentage might even influence the position... There is no doubt about it - it is scary to play with it becouse it is a lucrative word.
But.. now that it dropped i do considre it.catch 22

 1. Where is that keyword ranking ; Top 5 or top 10. If it is ranking 9 or 10 then that partly explains why your impressions count is high yet the clicks are low and in that case changing the keyword phrase to a more call to action oriented one would not do much for improve the CTR. (although it may help a bit) . If the keyword is ranking high and is quite lucrative , i would not do a lot of testing on it. I would suggest creating another page on the site with the longer title that you want to test, optimize that page and see how it performs with the CTR. 2. I would recommend checking the optimization elements of the page using the Moz On Page Grader. Cheers, SEO5..

I like to use my keyword in url, a synonym with hi cooc and CTA in title then another synonym with high cooc in h1. Careful with anchor text if you use keyword in url.

What defines what words in a title are considered Keywords?
Hi, sorry if this is a silly question. I'm curious how keywords are defined. Is every word in a title a possible keyword? If I have a keyword titled "Linear Shower Drain | 40" Long", does it take the whole thing as a keyword? Is just "Linear Shower Drain" the keyword? Would "Shower Drain" pop up as a keyword, since its nested in the title? Thank you in advance for your answers! Keyword Research | | ezable0

Does the traffic that a page get affects the page ranking?
I am asking this as I would like to know if we can include this advice in our Search strategy. For instance, can we say for the keywords that has high business priority, but we are not currently rank above the fold we can boost the traffic and therefore the organic ranking by investing on these keywords on PPC. How does Google treat special characters in titles?
Seems like a stupid question, but one that I never really gave much thought about before. How exactly does Google treat special characters in titles? Do they all get seen as spaces? e.g. Does Awesome Product - OptionA/OptionB/OptionC available get seen the same way as **Awesome Product - OptionA, OptionB, **OptionC available ? Or even **Awesome Product - OptionA OptionB **OptionC available ? Or will Google see the first title as **OptionA/OptionB/OptionC **being a whole "keyword" due to there being no space between them? Like I've always just assumed that with apostrophised words will be seen as keyword s. And when using commas, there's always a space after the comma anyway. Are all "special characters" treated the same? Keyword Research | | Ria_0

Using roman numbers in Page title
Hi, We are working on a site with lots of Acts and Rules (mostly legal stuff). The Acts are differentiated by Roman numbers like rule-VIII and Form-XX etc. I want to know if I should keep the page title same or change them to English numericals like rule-8 and Form-20 Thanks Keyword Research | | sayeed0

Which page is currently ranking the best for a particular keyword?
Hi Guys! I have approx. 50 keywords that I'm tracking for a website that has about 80 pages. I am wondering is there any way that I can find out which page on the site is currently ranking best for each of the keywords on my list? Ideally I would like to export the entire list with the keyword in the first column and the page that ranks best on the website for each given keyword, in the second column. Apologies if the wording of this post is confusing - I am not quite sure how to make it clearer. The aim of my task is to determine which keywords should be allocated to each page on the site so I need to work out which keywords are working already for certain pages so that I don't take those efforts away from the well-optimised pages. Many thanks! Meaghan Keyword Research | | StoryScout0

Does combining keywords in the page title help or hurt you?
I am working on a site which sells elliptical equipment. I used Google Adwords to determine number of searches on the following keywords: Elliptical trainer – 3.,600 searches Elliptical machine – 14,800 searches Elliptical trainer machine - 22 searches I am currently optimizing “elliptical trainer” – but after seeing results above would also like to optimize “elliptical machine”. My question is: if I add “machine” to “elliptical trainer” will Google now only read “elliptical trainer machine” or will it read “elliptical machine” in addition to “elliptical trainer”. How do you know what word or “chunk” of words Google picks up? Keyword Research | | ChristieC1

How To Optimize Similar Product Pages
I found some really good resources on here regarding how to optimize for product pages, however I have one question. We carry about 20 different products lines. EX: Cold Saws, Band Saws, Press Brakes etc. For the cold saws product line we have Manual Cold Saws and Automatic Cold Saws. Same for Band Saws. Since the products are very similar and people are technically only search for manual cold saws, manual coldsaws, manual cold saw machines etc. Each product line has between 10 and 50 machines. How do we optimize each product page for 1 keyword phrase.? Can I have about 5 manual cold saw pages target the same keyword phrase or does each page have to be targeting completely different key phrases? like, manual coldsaws, manual cold saws, affordable manual coldsaws, etc. Keyword Research | | hfranz0
