          Hi all,

Our customer is building a new homepage. Therefore, they use pages, which are generated out of a special module. Like a blog-page out of the blog-module (not only for blogs, also for lightboxes).

For that, the programmer is using an url-delimiter for his url-parsing. The url-delimiter is for example a /b/ or /s/. The url would look like this:

          www.test.ch/de/blog/b/an-article

          www.test.ch/de/s/management-coaching

Does the url-delimiter (/b/ or /s/ in the url) have a negative influence on SEO? Should we remove the /b/ or /s/ for a better seo-performance

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

          Greetings. Samuel

            Hi Samuel,

In general, URLs should not contain any unnecessary folders (delimiters). In your first example, the /b/ is not needed since you've already got a /blog/ folder. In the second example, that page appears to be main site content, you don't need any additional folders unless they're specifying a general topic under which you'll be adding more specific pages.

You're also burying your keywords a one step further into the URL than is needed. Google says they don't put too much weight on URL structure, but in my experiences, well planned and logical URL structures perform better. It's not going to have a huge impact on your rankings, but it will help to some degree.

Difference between urls and referring urls?

Sorry, nit new to this side of SEO We recently discovered we have over 200 critical crawler issues on our site (mainly 4xx) We exported the CSV and it shows both a URL link and a referring URL. Both lead to a 'page not found' so I have two questions? What is the difference between a URL and a referring URL? What is the best practice/how do we fix this issue? Is it one for our web developer? Appreciate the help.

              Will Moving Categories Affect SEO

I recently designed a new website to replace an old site. We managed to hold 90% ranking and traffic by keeping the same URS's and content. Now that we have completed that we are now updating the whole site. It is an commerce website. Some of the items we were selling we are getting from a new vendor. If I move these products from one one vendor to another will this affect SEO? Here is an example. I have a product called "Green Zipper Sweater". This product is Anchored via Manufacturer and Category. The URL and Title Tag are  green-zipper-sweater. If the Sweater was made by "Nike Green Sweaters" and our new supplier is "Gap Yellow and Green Sweaters". If I change the the Manufacturer and now put it under "Gap Green and Yellow Sweaters" will this affect my ranking. We are continuing to stock products from the original supplier "Nike Green Sweaters" and we have an aggressive SEO plan and are ranking very well for "Nike Green Sweaters". We also have good product ranking so "Green Zipper Sweater" brings us a lot of traffic. I want to be sure I do not loose ranking for  the product page "Green Zipper Sweater" and the Brand "Nike Green Sweaters" Any advice would be appreciated.

              Crawlers crawl weird long urls

I did a crawl start for the first time and i get many errors, but the weird fact is that the crawler tracks duplicate long, not existing urls. For example (to be clear): there is a page: www.website.com/dogs/dog.html but then it is continuing crawling:
              www.website.com/dogs/dog.html
              www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dog.html
              www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dogs/dog.html
              www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dogs/dogs/dog.html
www.website.com/dogs/dogs/dogs/dogs/dogs/dog.html what can I do about this? Screaming Frog gave me the same issue, so I know it's something with my website

Duplicate page titles are the same URL listed twice

The system says I have two duplicate page titles. The page titles are exactly the same because the two URLs are exactly the same. These same two identical URLs show up in the Duplicate Page Content also - because they are the same. We also have a blog and there are two tag pags showing identical content - I have blocked the blog in robots.txt now, because the blog is only for writers. I suppose I could have just blocked the tags pages.

Does anyone know what the %5C at the end of a URL is?

I've just had a look at the crawl diagnostics and my site comes up with duplicate page content and duplicate titles. I noticed that the url all has %5C at the end which I've never seen before. Does anybody know what that means?
