Inbound links from porn sites into a professional business services site - remove help?

The website in question was hacked four years ago and there was porn on the servers. It was used as a peer to peer torrent streamer. The images were deleted. We have just found inappropriate inward bound links (with great link juice!!) - how can we remove these links - or should we? any advice would be appreciated thanks

Hi Felicity, Andre is basically correct with his answer. We usually tell people not to worry about links like this as long as you have a Strong Link Profile. For example if you have a new website with no links and you suddenly get tons of bad links, you have a good chance of it hurting you. Now if you have a strong link profile with good links and you get some bad links, it's not going to do anything. So I would only worry about it if those are the only links you have in your link profile, otherwise you should be okay. Casey

As long as YOU know that you don't promote your site via porn/gambling sites then who cares? Explain to them your sites history and then they wont jump to conclusions when they see your link profile. Its impossible to remove that link anyway, unless you contact the web-master. GREG

yeah i suppose you are right BUT we were just about to start a link building program - if anyone was to do a SEOmoz analysis of the site surely they would think the website is questionable???

I wouldnt worry about links comming in. Aslong as you arnt linking out to these dogy sites your all good. Think about it, if i wanted to penalize my competitor, i would purchase a whole bunch of porn links directing them to my competition and intern they get penalized. This doesn't happen, so you have nothing to worry about. GREG

Internal Linking - Post links vs Side Bar Links behaving differently
Hi, I have a question regarding the internal linking behavior. My website is www.hindimeaning.com which is approx 3 years old. I have approx 450 posts. Now i have a widget on right sidebar "Popular posts". A widget below my posts "Related Posts". And a simple html CSS menu above the posts (I removed menu around 6 month before so currently it will not show.) I crawled my site with moz crawler (same are the result from google crawler as well) and it shows menus links as internal links. While sidebar widget "Popular posts" and "Related Posts" are not showing as internal links. If we talk theoretically what i learn till now is "every link on a page behaves as internal link". Then why the widget links are not showing as internal links. Thanks, Mahesh Kumar Link Building | | chaudhary04890

Link building for a product review site
I'm doing SEO for a product review website, and I'm curious what link building opportunities are best for this category. Assume only the following: The website is basically a blog Most of the articles are reviews on cosmetic products, though there are also articles regarding news, product roundups, tips&tricks and similar content The website is in a local, non-english language Disregarding low-value opportunities such as directories, what kind of websites should I aim for outreach purposes? So far, I'm thinking the following: Product manufacturers (very low success chance, as the review site is fairly new and in a localized language) E-commerce sites selling the products (average to low success chance, since a lot of them use CMSes that might not allow integration of a review) Other cosmetic blogs, particularly for guest blogging (average to low success chance, since the website is fairly new) Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks! Does blocking domains help remove bad links?
I have affiliate websites that are harming for one of 2 reasons: 1. They are on adult websites (and I don't want to be in a bad neighborhood) or 2. They are using a Frameset (so their content appears identical to mine and I am getting "credit" for all their junk links) I cannot get these websites to remove our links so I have blocked their IPs on our production firewall. Is this an effective method or should I do something else with these links?
