Prompt Suggestions (BETA)
Please note: AI Visibility is currently in beta. You may see differences between this guide and the tool itself as we continue to quickly update and evolve the tool prior to general release. Unsure what a beta is and what it means for Moz tools? Be sure to check out our What is a Beta page.
What’s covered?
This guide covers how to use the Prompt Suggestions tool in Moz Pro.
Getting started with Prompt Suggestions
Prompt Suggestions helps you discover LLM prompts to research, so you can see how your brand appears in AI-generated responses.
To access Prompt Suggestions, click AI Research in the left-hand navigation menu and then click Prompt Suggestions.
Once in the Prompt Suggestions tool interface, follow the steps below to begin your research:
- Enter a topic relevant to your brand
- Click Analyze or hit Enter on your keyboard
After clicking Analyze, you will see two primary sections of the tool: Organic search snapshot and Suggested prompts.
Organic search snapshot
The Organic search snapshot section provides an overview of the organic metrics for the topic cluster you entered. The data in this section is pulled from our Keyword Suggestions tool in Keyword Explorer.
Within this section, you will see the following metrics:
- Total Monthly Volume - The total Monthly Volume for all the keywords in this topic cluster (i.e. group of keyword suggestions related to the queried topic). This metric is an indication of the demand for a keyword. This is the number of searches for a keyword in any given month.
- Average Difficulty - The average Difficulty score for the keywords in this topic cluster. A score from 0 (easy) to 100 (difficult) that estimates how difficult it would be for you to rank higher than the current competitors on the first page of organic search results.
- Intent - The percentage of keywords in this topic cluster that have the primary Search Intent indicated. Search intent indicates a user's primary goal when searching for a given keyword. Search engines use intent to inform the type of content served in the SERP. In Keyword Suggestions, Search Intent identifies the most likely intent for the listed keyword. Below are the four primary types of search intent you may see noted in this column:
- Informational – The user is searching for specific information on a topic.
- Navigational – The user is searching for an online location or page of a website.
- Commercial – The user is searching to investigate or compare brands, products, or services. Commercial intent occurs before transactional intent.
- Transactional – The user is searching for a product or service to purchase.
Below these key metrics, there will be a list of additional topics related to your query. Click any of the topics to see additional Suggested prompts and data related to that topic in Prompt Suggestions.
To explore the keywords identified as part of the topic you’ve queried, click Analyze topic in Keyword Suggestions. You will then be taken to the Keyword Suggestions tool, where you can further explore Search Intent and find keywords to target in your content.
Suggested prompts
Below the Organic search snapshot will be your list of Suggested prompts. These are prompts you can use to research how your brand appears in AI-generated responses.
For any prompt where you’d like to research how your brand appears in the AI-generated responses, click Track prompt in AI Visibility to add it to your AI Visibility Dashboard. Your AI Visibility Dashboard will show you when you and your selected competitors appear in AI responses to the selected prompt, and where in each response your brand appears.
Why am I not seeing the option to track in AI Visibility?
The AI Visibility tool is only available for medium-level subscriptions or higher (including medium-level free trials). If you are not seeing the option to click to track or are being prompted to upgrade to track, you are on the Standard or Starter level subscription, which does not include AI Visibility access. For more information about our available subscription levels, please see our pricing page.
Sort, filter, and export suggested prompts
You have the option to sort and filter the Suggested prompts table. To sort the table, either click the Prompt header within the table or click the three dots on the top right.
After clicking the three dots on the top right, you will have the option to sort, unsort, or Filter.
Click the Filter option to open a pop-up where you can apply multiple filters to the list of suggested prompts. Use the drop-down to select the type of filter you’d like to apply and then enter your filter value.
- Contains – Specifies that only prompts, including the term entered in the filter, should be displayed.
- Does not contain – Specifies that only prompts that don’t include the term entered should be displayed.
- Equals – Specifies that prompts that exactly match the term entered in the filter should be displayed.
- Does not equal – Specifies that only prompts that do not exactly match the term entered in the filter should be displayed.
- Starts with – Specifies that only prompts that start with the term entered in the filter should be displayed.
- Does not start with – Specifies that only prompts that do not start with the term entered in the filter should be displayed.
You can export the Suggested prompts list with or without filters applied by clicking Export on the top right. If filters are applied before clicking Export, the exported list will reflect the filters.
